Tremor felt in Kathmandu Valley; Epicenter in Sindhupalchok

A light tremor has been felt in Kathmandu Valley. Nepal's National Seismological Center (NSC) has recorded magnitude 4.6 tremor at 3:24 pm Saturday afternoon. The quake's epicenter was located in Sindhupalchok district. This is  461th aftershock of magnitude 4 and greater recorded since 2015 Gorkha earthquake.

Nepal: Flood in Bajura kills 2 boys, injures 7 others

Flood triggered by torrential rainfall has claimed lives of two boys and injured seven others in Kawadi village of Bajura district. According to Nepal Police, flood washed away two boys aged 10-years-old Nikhil Budha Thapa and 6-years-old Dirgha Budha Thapa.

Eight killed as heaviest rain in 200 yrs hit South China

The heaviest rainfall in more than 200 years hit a city in south China's Guangdong Province claiming lives of at least eight people. Xinyi received 429.5 millimeters of rainfall in just six hours, Xinhua News Agency reported quoting the provincial flood control and drought relief headquarters.

Landslide in Dehradun, India kills 10 daily wagers

A landslide in Chakrata area of Dehradun district has claimed lives of ten daily wagers and injured five others. The daily wagers were asleep when landslide hit Teoni-Hanol at 1 am on Sunday, Tribune India reported quoting district officer Ravinath Raman.

Cyclone Roanu kills 24 in Bangladesh — Worst in Chittagong

Tropical cyclone Roanu has claimed lives of 24 people in Bangladesh, country national news agency, Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) reported. The worst situation has been observed in and around northwestern port city of Chittagong where 11 people including minor children have been killed.

Three moderate earthquakes hit Western China — Tremors even felt in Nepal

Three moderate earthquakes have been recorded in the western Chinese Tibet Autonomous Region on Sunday morning May 22, 2016. The China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC) has recorded two moderate earthquakes in less than 20 minutes in Xinzang region. Magnitude 5.3 earthquake occurred at 09:48 am at 10 km depth. It was followed by another moderate earthquake with magnitude 5.3 at a shallower depth of 6 km in the same region.

Landslide triggered by heavy downpour has claimed lives of three people in Kalikot district of Nepal Thursday night. The landslide disaster occurred in Kodabada-7 of Gejbazar area of Kalikot district, Nepal Police said.

Four earthquakes recorded in Koyna, Maharashtra in last two days

At least four mild earthquakes have been recorded in Koyna region of Maharashtra in last two days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) under the Ministry of Earth Sciences of the Government of India reported. According to the National Center for Seismology, the first tremor in the sequence was magnitude 3.9 earthquake at 6:53 pm on May 18, 2016. The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 5 km.

Tornado in Vero Beach, Florida damages 20 houses

Tornado in Vero Beach in Florida has damaged 20 homes on Tuesday afternoon. Heavy storm laos damaged cars and toppled tress. The National Weather Service office in Melbourne reported a new record rainfall in Vero Beach of 9.78 inches through 7 p.m., making it the wettest day in the city's history, WFTV reported.

Landslides in Assam, India kill 10 including five members of a famly

Landslides triggered by heavy rainfall in Karimganj and Hailakandi districts in Barak Valley in Assam have claimed lives of at least 10 people. Five members of a family were killed in a landslide at Sonachirra in Karimganj district on Wednesday, The Indian Express reported. Fatalities included a man, his wife and their daughter and two sons.

Indonesia floods kill 17; Rescue going on

Seventeen dead bodies have been identified and 4 are still missing, when  rain triggered flood and landslide occurred in a most popular waterfall in North Sumatra, Indonesia. According to The Jakarta Post the rescue is going on for missing University Students and guides. The disaster occurred during the student's visit to Dua Warna waterfall in North Sumatra province.

Floods and landslides kill 8 in Sri Lanka

At least eight people have been killed due to floods and landslides triggered by heavy rainfall in Sri Lanka. Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam has instructed officials to close the schools in disaster areas if problem continue, news.lk , The Official Government News Portal of Sri Lanka mentioned.

Lightning strike in Tanahun, Nepal kills 2 women

Lightning strike in Tanahun district of Nepal has claimed lives of two women. According to the Nepal Police, 20  years old Mausami Rana and 55 years old Yani Maya Thapa of Kaahushivpur-7 of Dhanbaas died in the disaster.

Tremor felt in Kathmandu valley Sunday morning — Epicenter in Sindhupalchowk

Update According to National Seismological Center, the earthquake of magnitude 4.4 occurred in Sindhupalchowk district at 4:30 am local time. The epicenter was located near Ichok. NSC has confirmed it as an aftershock of 2015 Gorkha earthquake . It occurred at 14 miles depth. No preliminary damage or injuries have been reported. This is the second aftershock of magnitude greater than four recorded in Sindhupalchowk district in less than 24 hours. Yesterday, magnitude 4.3 aftershock occurred at 05:05 am local time.

Flash floods in Badakhshan, Afghanistan kill 6, injure 5 others

Flash floods in Badakhshan province of Afghanistan have claimed lives of at least six people and injured five others. Recent flash floods have affected the people of Tashkan, Tagab, Shahd, Awghonch, Baharak, Shaghnan, Shaki, Nasi, Maymi, Zebak and Arghistan districts of the province, Bakhtar News reported quoting Ahmad Nawed Farotan spokesman of Badakhshan governor.

Two earthquakes rock Baluchistan, Pakistan today

Two moderate earthquakes of magnitude 5.5 and 5.3 rocked Baluchistan province of Pakistan today. According to Pakistan Meteorological Department, magnitude 5.3 earthquake occurred at 11:59 am local time with epicenter located 20 km SSW of Chaman, Baluchistan. After two minutes, another earthquake of magnitude 5.5 rocked the same region.

33 killed in lightning, thunderstorm in Bangladesh

Lightning strikes during thunderstorms have claimed lives of at least 33 people in 12 districts of Bangladesh. Five people died in Sirajganj and Rajshahi each, and four in Pabna, Kishoreganj and Brahmanbarhia, Bangladesh's first internet newspaper bdnews24.com reported.

Earthquake panic rush injures 3 in Gorkha, closes schools — Tremor even felt in Kathmandu

At least three people have been injured in Gorkha during panic rush after magnitude 4.5 earthquake rocked the region. Nepal's National Seismological Center recorded magnitude 4.5 tremor at 02:37 pm Wednesday afternoon. The quakes' epicenter was located near Taple of Gorkha district. The coordinates of the epicenter have been given as 28.01, N, 84.68 E.

50 killed in landslides in Ethiopia's Wolaita zone

Floods and Landslides triggered by heavy rainfall have claimed lives of at least 50 people in Wolaita zone of Ethiopia. Landslide in the Wolaita Zone in southern Ethiopia killed 41 people. Nine people died in flooding in Bale, an area in southeastern Ethiopia, AP reported quoting Fana Broadcasting Corporate. Flooding and landslides have washed away roads and bridges and affected tens of thousands of people in many parts of the country.

A light tremor of magnitude 4.4 has been felt across Kathmandu valley Wednesday morning at 07:04 am local time. According to Nepal's National Seismological Center (NSC), the epicenter of the magnitude 4.4 quake was located near Marpak in Dhading district of Nepal.

Two killed as tornadoes sweep across Oklahoma

Tornado in Oklahoma (JR Hehnly via CBS News) At least two people died after tornadoes swept across Oklahoma Monday. A tornado hit a home near Wynnewood claiming life of a person, Garvin County officials confirmed. Another man was killed by a tornado near Connerville. A woman died in Yavatmal district after her house collapsed following heavy rains. Lightning strike killed another women in Dhule district of Maharashtra.

Magnitude 3.8 light earthquake rattled Mesquite City of Nevada at 6:49 am local time on May 5, 2016. According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the epicenter was located 38 km S of Mesquite. The earthquake occurred at 6.9 miles depth.

Flooding in Palestine, Texas has claimed lives of six people, including four children early Saturday morning. The woman and her four grandchildren died in Palestine, Texas after being swept away by floodwater through the 100 block of Timber Drive, Reuters reported. Fatalities included 64-year-old Lenda Asberry, and her four great-grandchildren all aged below 10 years old.
