Earthquake panic rush injures 3 in Gorkha, closes schools — Tremor even felt in Kathmandu

At least three people have been injured in Gorkha during panic rush after magnitude 4.5 earthquake rocked the region.

Nepal's National Seismological Center recorded magnitude 4.5 tremor at 02:37 pm Wednesday afternoon. The quakes' epicenter was located near Taple of Gorkha district. The coordinates of the epicenter have been given as 28.01, N, 84.68 E.

Ganesh Gurung, a student of Shakti Higher Secondary School of Kharibot VDC fractured his leg after jumping from the 2nd floor of the school. Schools in the district have been closed.

Other two also injured in the district. All three are having treatment at Gorkha District Hospital.

The mild tremor was even felt across Kathmandu valley.

NSC has confirmed it as an aftershock of 2015 Gorkha earthquake. Earlier this morning, another aftershock with 4.4 magnitude was recorded in Dhading district at 07:04 am local time.

This is 454th aftershock of magnitude 4 and greater recorded since 2015 Gorkha earthquake. Researchers have predicted another major earthquake in Nepal’s Gorkha district within years rather than the centuries that usually pass between quakes.
