50 killed in landslides in Ethiopia's Wolaita zone

Floods and Landslides triggered by heavy rainfall have claimed lives of at least 50 people in Wolaita zone of Ethiopia.

Landslide in the Wolaita Zone in southern Ethiopia killed 41 people. Nine people died in flooding in Bale, an area in southeastern Ethiopia, AP reported quoting Fana Broadcasting Corporate.

Flooding and landslides have washed away roads and bridges and affected tens of thousands of people in many parts of the country.

Flood have damaged a road linking Wolaita zone with Dawro zone. A bridge connecting Wolaita town with Sidama zone have also been flooded.

Ethiopia has been struggling with the worst El Nino on record with frequent natural disasters from floods to droughts.
