Landslides in Assam, India kill 10 including five members of a famly

Landslides triggered by heavy rainfall in Karimganj and Hailakandi districts in Barak Valley in Assam have claimed lives of at least 10 people.

Five members of a family were killed in a landslide at Sonachirra in Karimganj district on Wednesday, The Indian Express reported. Fatalities included a man, his wife and their daughter and two sons.

Two separate landslides in Hailakandi district killed four persons including a six-year old boy at Ramchandi area.

National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and police have been engaged in rescue and relief operations.
