Storm in Karak, Pakistan injures 25

Heavy storm in Karak, Pakistan has injured twenty five people including twelve women. Heavy rainstorm hit Tor Dhand, Ambeeri Kalan, Chokara and other surrounding regions, The Express Tribune reported. Storm also disrupted communication and power line with hospitals declaring emergencies. Flooding, landslides in China claim 14

Recent flooding and landslides across China have claimed lives of at least 14 people, the Xinhua reported. At least eight people died due to hailstorm in Erdos city of Mongolia. Landslides buried four in Anhui province of east China. Six rivers overflowed in Huizhou district. Others two were buried in Sichuan province. The National Meteorological Center (NMC) has predicted more rainfall in Inner Mongolia . A total of 97,500 hectares of cropland have been flooded, more than 247 houses have been totally destroyed causing damage of 430 million yuan in Mongolia, the regional civil affairs department said. Landslide claims 2 in Hunan, China

Landslide caused by heavy rainstorm has claimed lives of at least two people in Hunan Province of China. Landslide hit a house in Shuangqiao at 1 p.m, the Xinhua reported. One person was rescued but others two were found dead under rubble. Heavy rainfall and floods have collapsed more than 272 houses in Huanan since Monday. Similarly hail and flooding have affected more than 290,000 people in Mongolia. A total of 97,500 hectares of cropland have been flooded, more than 247 houses have been totally destroyed causing damage of 430 million yuan, the regional civil affairs department said. 2 missing in flash floods in New York and Pennsylvania

At least two people are reported to be missing in flash floods in upstate New York and Pennsylvania. Flood water swept away a woman in upstate New York's Mohawk Valley along with her mobile home. Another 86-year-old was washed away in Clinton County, Pennsylvania. Mohawk River overflowed in upstate New York. Gov. Andrew Cuomo visited flood damage area Saturday. National Weather Service declared a flash flood emergency in Central Pennsylvania two days ago. According to an emergency management official, bridge on East Main St in Sykesville was also collapsed. Tropical storm Gorio makes landfall in Samar, Philippines: Thousands stranded

Tropical storm Gorio (international name Rumbia) made landfall today morning in Hernani, Eastern Samar, Philippines. Around 5,400 passengers are believed to be stranded in Visayas and Bicol region due to effects of Tropical storm Gorio, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said. According to Cebu Pacific Air and Philippine Airlines, several domestic flights have been cancelled due to bad weather. As of 11 a.m, Gorio was located 30 kilometers southeast of Catbalogan, Samar, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said. Flash floods in Noakhali, Bangladesh affect 25,000

At least 25,000 Bengalis have been affected by the flash floods in Hatiya, Subarnachar and Companiganj upazilas of Noakhali, Dhaka Tribune reported. Tidal surge and torrential rains have been hitting Noakhali region since Wednesday. Flash flood has also washed away 11,500 hectares of paddy. Rukum, Nepal earthquake injures 20, damages more than 14 houses

According to the National Seismological Centre, the earthquake of magnitude of 5.5 has hit Rukum, the Mid Western Region of Nepal. Elviira, Finland's biggest storm in century brings 28,000 lightning strikes

Finland weather warning map; FMI Finland has been hit by biggest storm in century combined with more than 28,000 lightning strikes. According to Yle, so called Elviira storm is the biggest storm in Finland this century. The all-time lightning strikes record in Finland was 40,000 on June 29, 1988. Luckily no serious storm damage has been reported. The Finnish Meteorological Institute had earlier issued the emergency warning on severe thunderstorms in Central Finland, Southern Ostrobothnia and Central Ostrobothnia. According to the Finnish Meteorological Institute, emergency warnings were issued on the radio channels of the Finnish Broadcasting Company (Yle) and on commercial radio channels operating under a long-term licence. Ash fall from Kamchatka's largest volcano Shiveluch covers village

The Shiveluch volcano in Russia has spewed ash to a height of up to 7,000 meters, RIA Novosti reported quoting local Emergencies Ministry’s department. Local firefighters and rescuers have send text messages warning people to stay inside. Ash fall is seen in the village of Klyuchi in the Ust-Kamchatsky district and authorities have distributed gas masks, The Moscow Times reported. However according to disaster management official, Shiveluch volcano in Russia is currently not a threat to local residents. The Kamchatkan volcano Shiveluch has been periodically spewing ash from three to ten kilometers from May 2009. Shiveluch is the largest and most active volcano in Kamchatka Krai, Russia. DuBois, Pennsylvania flood 2013: Emergency declared

Update 19:25 UTC -Red Cross has set up two shelters in DuBois. -Mudslide has been reported in Pottsville. -A tornado watch also remains in effect for southeastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland. Landslide in Hubei province of China has claimed life of one people and left two others missing, China daily reported. Landslide occurred at around 9 a.m. on Jiugong Mountain and hit road maintenance workers. Rescuers from fire departments and the mountain's management bureau are searching for the missing people. Heavy rainfall triggered landslide in Hubei. Recent storms have caused floods and landslides affecting around 80,000 people in Yichang, Huanggang and Enshi area. Thousands evacuated in Paraguay flooding

Thousands people have been evacuated in Paraguay flooding due to overflow of the Parana River. More than 3,000 people have been evacuated only in Ayolas, Misiones, Presna Latina reported. Alto Parana and Misiones are believed worst affected by floods. Police, firefighters have moved the people to different shelters in safer place. Paraguay flooding could affect 2,000 households over the next few days, Paraguay National Emergency official told a local radio. Paraguay Emergency Service has provided flood relief materials to Alto Parana. Tents and food have been send to affected families. The river's water level in the region has reached close to six meters. The continuous rise of Parana River would lead the government to declare a state of emergency. Kalikot, Nepal landslide claims 2

Landslide in Kalikot district of Nepal has claimed lives of two people and injured one other. Landslide hit a hotel in Bharta-8 of Kalikot where a group of 18 people were staying. Fifteen others however escaped the disaster. All of them were from Rachuli and Odanku VDC returning from Kedarnath. Their four relatives have been missing in recent Uttarakhand floods and landslides . They had gone India in search of their relatives. Odanku is the largest VDC in Kalikot district in Karnali zone of Nepal. Cloudburst triggered landslide in Kalikot Wednesday night. Meanwhile another landslide at Sawadin VDC-7 in Taplejung district has claimed life of one people. Nepal is prone to natural disasters . It was 5.7 miles deep. Tornado in Columbia County rated EF-0

The National Weather Service has confirmed an EF-0 tornado in Columbia county on Tuesday. Small tornado touched down in Birkenfeld between 3:45 p.m. and 4 p.m, Fox 12 Oregon has written in its online edition. Tornado has damaged the roof of a building and downed trees.  Another report by the Oklahoma Insurance Department has mentioned that tornado insurance claims from May Oklahoma tornadoes have reached 75,758 with insurance payments reaching $687,945,276. Tsunami hit US East Coast, NOAA says

A tsunami was observed on June 13, 2013 at East Coast, Bermuda and Puerto Rico, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) said. At Newport, Rhode Island tsunami wave reached just under 25cm above sea level. According to NOAA, Gages in Kiptopeke, Virginia, and Atlantic City and New Jersey also recorded similar peaks. Minor tsunami damage was reported at the yacht club to the dock and two boats. Scientists are still trying to determine the cause of Tsunami. Hurricane Cosme in Mexico claims 2 lives

Hurricane Cosme in Mexico has claimed lives of at least two people, The Voice Of Russia reported. A gust of wind and strong Ocean wave hit a boat killing a tourist, Guerrero authorities said. In another incident, a police officer died along Mexico City-Acapulco road. At least 19 people are reported to be injured in the tragedy. On June 24, Cosme developed into a Category 1 hurricane. Meteorologists at the Servicio Meteorológico Nacional has expected a "moderate" hazard risk along southern Mexican coastline. Hailstorm in Singapore: Damages roofs, cars

Update 10:40  UTC According to the National Environment Agency (NEA), latest hailstorm in Singapore isn't related to cloud seeding in Indonesia. Flooding in Pilbara contrast Perth with second driest June

Heavy flooding has been reported in Pilbara contrast with Perth where dry condition prevails, Australian Bureau of Meteorology said. Parts of the Pilbara are currently on alert due to heavy floods. Opposite to it, Perth has made a record of second driest June. According to the Meteorological department, Perth has only received 39 millimetres of rain whereas Karratha region received 209 millimeters of rain in last 24 hours. Perth average rainfall for the month is 175 millimetres. Similarly, Karratha rainfall was very close to the wettest day on record. 212 millimeters rainfall in January 2006 was the record rainfall in the region. Central African Republic gold mine collapse kills 37, national mourning declared

A three days national mourning has been declared after 37 people died in Central African Republic gold mine collapse, local news reported. Heavy rainfall triggered CAR gold mine collapse. Disaster area is located in Ndassima, about 440km east of Bangui. According to Al Jazeera which has quoted Prosper Ndouba, spokesman for the president's office, 10 miners have been rescued and still unknown number of bodies have been trapped. Sinkhole in Philippines bans swimming in Zambales beach

A huge sinkhole has formed in Philippines Zambales beach where swimming has been banned, local medias reported. Puerto del Mar beach in Candelaria, Zambales was collapsed due to soil erosion caused by tidal waves. There is currently no threat to the visitors and no evacuation order has been issued, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau said. Heavy rain causes flash flood in Odisha, India

Heavy rainfall has caused flash flood in Odisha's Kalahandi district affecting nearly 15,000 people, local media reported. Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Bolangir and Koraput districts are said to be heavy hit by flash floods. Flood water has washed away two fair weather bridges joining Kalampur and Junagarh in Kalahandi district. Parts of highways between Junagarh and Dharmagada have also been washed away. According to the Revenue and Disaster Management Department official, 660 mm rainfall has been recorded in Thuamul Rampur block. Weak earthquake in Spitak, Armenia

M 2.9 earthquake shakes Armenia’s Spitak region at 14:16 local time, the Armenian Emergency Ministry's Seismic Protection Service reported. According to the Seismic Protection Service, the epicenter was located 7 km far from Spitak with hypocenter at a depth of 10 km. Tremors were well felt in Vanadzor and Spitak. Tropical storm Barry hits Veracruz, Mexico: 3 killed

Tropical storm Barry has claimed lives of at least three people in Mexico and left one missing in El Salvador. Tropical storm Barry has caused heavy rainfall from northern Nicaragua to South-Central Mexico. A woman and her child were swept away by the swollen river in Oaxaca. Another person was swept away in Veracruz. Barry made landfall in Veracruz, Mexico on June 20 and caused damages in at least eight municipalities in Veracruz. Three people were injured and at least 1,200 residents were evacuated earlier. Tropical storm Barry impact Mexico: At least two killed. Several landslides occurred in Guerrero and Puebla. Flash flooding hits Wisconsin: Flood damage assessment under way

Heavy rainfall has caused flash flooding in parts of southwestern Wisconsin, United States. Damaging earthquake near Gili Islands, Lombok, Indonesia: 24 injured, 3 critical

M 5.2 damaging earthquake hit off the coast of the Gili Islands, Lombok, Indonesia on June 22, 2013. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located 12 km NW of Karangsubagan. It was 6.2 miles deep. According to The Voice Of Russia who has quoted Iwan Maret Asmara, the head of the department for liquidation of consequences of natural calamities of the North Lombok, earthquake has seriously damaged 1,700 houses and more than 25 temples. State of emergency in Malaysia: Air pollution level reaches 16-years-high

State of emergency has been declared in Malaysia after the air pollutant index (API) reached 16-years-high. Malaysian government declared a state of emergency today in Muar and Ledang districts after the air pollutant index (API) hit 750 in Muar. Malaysian authorities have already closed all 221 schools in Muar and Ledang for two days due to health hazards. Similarly the Department of Environment has also issued a ban against open burning activities in Selangor, Malacca and Johor until further notice. During 1997-1998 haze, the air pollutant index (API) reached 860. Hailstorms cause havoc in 8 villages in Georgia

Wild hailstorms have caused heavy damage to agricultural crops in eight villages in Akhmeta in Kakheti region of eastern Georgia. Hailstorm damage have been found extensive in Ashkhnis Velebi, Akhshani, Arashenda, Chabinaani, Khorkheli, Zemo Khodasheni, Ozhio and Atskhuri, Democracy & Freedom Watch has written quoting Kakheti Information Center. Tropical storm Bebinca makes landfall in China: 4 missing fishermen found

Update 14:35 UTC -According to  local marine authorities, four missing fishermen have returned to port safely. -At least 42 flights have been cancelled at the Sanya Phoenix International Airport. -An emergency response system is still in effect. At least four fishermen are missing as tropical storm Bebinca makes landfall in South China, Xinhua reported. Four fishermen have gone missing in the Beibu Gulf, local marine authorities said. According to local meteorological department, tropical storm Bebinca made landfall at 11:10 a.m. in Tanmen Township in Hainan's city of Qionghai. Recent storm in South Dakota has claimed life of a woman and left thousands of people without power. Wind storm damage is found extensive around Lake Poinsett, northeast South Dakota. Fire department in South Dakota is going door to door to assess the extent of storm damage. M 5.1 moderate earthquake shakes Northern Italy today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located just 2 km SSW of Fivizzano. It was 6.4 miles deep. According to Italy's Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, earthquake today occurred in a mountainous region near the Tuscan coast between the provinces of Massa e Carrara and Lucca. Train services on Aulla – Lucca line were also temporary closed. Northern Italy 2013 also triggered a landslide in the village of Equi Terme. Singapore haze 2013: Worst in history

A large-scale air quality disaster has hit Singapore and Malaysia. In Singapore, haze at 12 p.m. on 21 June 2013 reached 401 making a record of worst in its history. Latest storm in Wellington region of New Zealand has been described as the worst storm in 37 years by a scientist of National Institute for Weather and Atmospheric Research (NIWA). Flood traps 100 school students in Tianshui, China

At least 100 middle school students and teachers have been trapped in their school due to a flood, Xinhua reported. Students and teachers were trapped as flood washed away the only bridge linking the Maiji Junior Middle School to the outside. Floods have also damaged school gate and walls. However no injury has been reported. According to an official of Education Bureau Maiji District, Middle School, a boarding school with dormitories and cafeterias has enough food for two to three days. Palpa landslide claims 3 of a single family

Landslide in Palpa, Nepal has claimed lives of three members of a single family. Landslide hit a house in Birkot-3 of Palpa at 01:00 a.m and killed Khagisara Bahraghare and her two children below age 13. Her husband, Bal Bahadur Bahraghare was rescued by Police and locals. Tornado hits Waikato, New Zealand

A tornado touched down for 10 minutes in Waikato region of New Zealand. According to The New Zealand Herald, Waikato tornado was at the lowest end of the scale and didn't cause any damage. Update 2013/06/20 -Death toll from floods in Lourdes has risen to 2. Fatalities are from Pierrefitte-Nestalas and Luz-Saint-Sauveur. -Several areas near the Pyrenees mountain range are placed on "red alert" by French official. Flooding in Lourdes, south-western France has claimed life of a 70-year-old woman. Woman and her husband tried to escape from their car but were swept away in Lourdes in Pierrefitte-Nestelas. Tornado in Cebu City of Philippines destroys 50 houses

At least 50 houses have been destroyed in a tornado in Cebu city of Philippines. Tornado damage occurred in Minglanilla town in Cebu City, GMA News reported. Winds of about 200 kph has been recorded. Heavy rains in eastern Metro Manila has made visibility almost zero at Ortigas Avenue. Several schools in Metro Manila have suspended classes for Wednesday. 5 members of a single family killed in Baitadi landslide

Landslide in Baitadi district of Nepal has claimed lives of five members of a single family. The catastrophic landslide occurred at Siddeswor-9 of Baitadi Monday night. Landslide caused by heavy rainfall swept away three children of Ram Singh Eir. They were below three years old. Locals with forces from Khodpe Police Post and Area Police Office, Patan are engaged in rescue operations. Heavy rainfall has caused massive flooding in Mahakali river. The District Administration Office (DAO) has declared a flood emergency in the area. At least four people including three children are reported to be missing in landslide in Humala district of Nepal. Landslide hit at least twelve houses in Hilsa, Muchu-9 of Humla district of Nepal. This is the remote area bordered with Tibet where Nepal section of The Great Himalaya Trail ends. Local and Police are on the way to the catastrophe site. Another landslide at Siddababa along the Butwal-Palpa has caused huge traffic jam. Dozens of vehicles have been stranded due to landslide at Ganeshpur section on the KI Singh Highway. Lightning claims 6 lives in Parsa and Siraha

Lightning in Nepal has claimed lives of at least six people and injured two others. Four people died in Parsa and two others in Siraha districts of Nepal. Lightning hit when people were taking shelter inside a shed during a heavy rain in Parsa. One person who is said to be in critical condition is currently undergoing treatment at Birgunj hospital. In another lightning disaster in Siraha, two people were killed in the mango farm. A mother and her daughter were hit by lightning at Sukhachaina VDC of the district. Floods, landslides in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh kills 72

At least 72 people have died in floods and landslides in north of India. More than 50 people died in the states of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh alone over the last 24 hours. According to NDTV News, about 22 people have became landslide victims in the state of Haryana. Between 50 and 100 people are still reported to be missing. At least 50 people have gone missing after a cloudburst in Rambada, Uttarakhand, officials said. Following a state disaster management authority, landslide alerts have been issued for all districts in the Konkan region . Several people were evacuated following a landslide in Ratnagiri, a port city on the Arabian Sea coast in Ratnagiri district in the southwestern part of Maharashtra, India. Around 180 tourists were stranded for about three hours near Hillgrove station, following a landslide on the railway track. Tourists were travelling by the famous Nilgiri Mountain Rail service. Météo France puts Paris and south-western France on storm alert

Météo France has put 19 departments in the Ile De France region and south-western France on Orange alert for storms. Météo France has predicted very violent locally with a risk of gales and hail stones. Winds could reach 80kph and hailstones as big as 3cm.
