March 29, 2020: Magnitude 3.6 light earthquake has been felt in Montreal today at 03:21 am local time.  According to the Canadian National Seismic Network, the earthquake's epicenter was located around 39 km NNE of Montreal, QC. The earthquake occurred at 18 km depth. Tremor was felt by the people of Saint-Roch-de-lʿAchigan, LʿÉpiphanie, Lac-Lapierre, Saint-Jacques, Verchères and Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines Québec, Canada. M4.4 earthquake tremor rattles Rawalpindi and Islamabad

Update 09:15 UTC Magnitude 4.4 light earthquake has been recorded in the area. According to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre, the epicenter of the earthquake was near Afghanistan-Tajikistan-Pakistan border. The earthquake occurred at a greater depth of 176 km. Indonesia: Mt. Merapi volcano eruption spews massive ash cloud

March 27, 2020: Mount Merapi, the Indonesia's most active volcano erupted today shooting a column of ash some 5,000 metres (16,000 feet) into the air. According to the national disaster mitigation agency spokesman Agus Wibowo, there has been no reports of damage from the volcano eruption. However, the people are urged to stay calm and not to panic. Authorities haven't raised the alert level for Mount Merapi volcano . The Mt. Merapi volcano, which is near the historic city of Yogyakarta, had another big eruption earlier this month. Mt. Merapi volcano had sent ash into the air at 20,000 feet. Mount Merapi's last major volcanic eruption was in 2010. Mount Merapi volcanic eruption killed more than 300 people and forced the evacuation of 280,000 residents. Indonesia is made up of a series of islands with over 120 active volcanoes.

Mentone, Texas earthquake today becomes strongest in 30 years

March 26, 2020: Magnitude 5.0 moderate earthquake has been recorded near Mentone, Texas today at 10:16 am local time. According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake's epicenter was located around 40 km west of Mentone, Texas. The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 8.5km. Bolide observed in western Nepal: NASO

March 26, 2020: The object seen in the Nepali sky Thursday evening is probably a fireball or a bolide, The Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO) said. Meanwhile, NASO has urged Gandaki province residents to share any evidence of the object observed entering the atmosphere.  A bright object was seen in western Nepal mainly reported from Pokhara, Syanga and Baglung with loud crashing sound heard around 8pm. A bolide is an extremely bright meteor , especially one that explodes in the atmosphere.

Tornado damage reported in Mississippi and Alabama

March 24, 2020: A large tornado ripped across northeastern Mississippi and northwestern Alabama causing injuries and damage in the town of Tishomingo, Mississippi, near the Alabama state line. According to the Weather Channel, a Dollar General store was destroyed in Tishomingo. The National Weather Service in Memphis confirmed the tornado moved through shortly after 5:30 p.m. local time.

March 25, 2020: Severe flooding triggered by heavy rainfall has claimed lives of at least two people in Aden, the temporary capital of Yemen. Power outage has also been reported in Aden. Heavy rainfall is predicted for coming Thursday in Aden coming from the Arabian Sea.

Michigan statewide tornado drill today: March 25, 2020

March 25, 2020: As a part of Severe Weather Awareness Week, the state of Michigan is conducting its statewide tornado drill today afternoon at 1 PM. Apart from the sirens, the alerts will also be send on the weather radio and other devices that receive emergency alerts.   According to Michigan State Police, many counties have canceled their tests for tornado drill today. Many counties aren't testing its emergency alert system due to the ongoing state of emergency in the community. Due to the concerns and anxiety with COVID-19, the counties have cancelled plans to test the tornado drill scheduled for today.

Magnitude 4.0 earthquake rattles Dhading, Nepal

March 25, 2020: Magnitude 4.0 light earthquake has been recorded in Nepal today at 06:36 pm local time. According to the Nepal Seismological Center, the earthquake's epicenter was located in Dhading. Last week, tremor was felt in capital Kathmandu as well. However, the magnitude 6.2 earthquake had its epicenter in neighbouring China. No damage or injuries is expected from this earthquake.

Floods in Iran kill 11 as country battle coronavirus crisis

March 24, 2020: Floods in Iran have killed at least 11 people at a time when the emergency services battle coronavirus in the country. Fatalities have been reported in the Fars Province and Kangan in the coastal province of Bushehr.  Heavy rainfalls created flash floods and swollen rivers in several Iranian provinces, including Fars, Bushehr, Hormozgan, Kerman and Sistan and Baluchestan in the southern parts of the country.

Flood in Fiji kills three

March 22, 2020: Flooding triggered by heavy rainfall has claimed lives of at least three people. Hundreds of people were stranded in Nausori, Central Division, on the island of Viti Levu. Damaging floods have been reported in Navua and capital Suva. Heavy downpours also triggered mudslides at a quarry in Mau, Namosi. The Fiji Meteorological Service has issued a flood warning for the Rakiraki town river.

March 15, 2020: A moderate earthquake of magnitude 5.0 has been recorded in Pokhara today at 08:45 pm, the country''s  National Seismological Center (NSC) reported. According to the NSC, the epicenter was located in between Lumle and Dhampus. People rushed out from their houses during the earthquake. However, no preliminary damage or injuries have been reported. Lumle and Dhampus are the popular tourist destination of Kaski district. The April 2015 Nepal earthquake killed nearly 9,000 people.

March 15, 2020: Magnitude 4.0 light earthquake has been recorded in Qom Province today, the Seismological Center of the Geophysics Institute of the University of Tehran reported. The earthquake's epicenter was located 19 km of Qom. No major damage or injuries is expected from this earthquake in Qom today. The 2003 Bam earthquake of magnitude 6.6 in magnitude killed at least 26,271 people and injured around 30,000 people in Iran.

Egypt flood 2020: Worst weather in decades kills 20

March 13, 2020: Heavy rains and flooding in Egypt have claimed lives of around 20 people leading to one of the worst weather in several decades . According to the Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, "Egypt has not experienced such weather conditions for nearly 35 or 40 years." Five people died in Zaraib, south of Cairo, when their homes were swept away. Two people were electrocuted and killed in Cairo.  Two people died in the southern province of Qena. A man died in  southern Sohag province.   Authorities have shut down Luxor International Airport. Also three seaports, the Mediterranean port of Alexandria and the Red Sea ports of Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada have been closed.

According to the United States Geological Survey, the earthquake's epicenter was located 19 km NNW of Maramba, Tanzania. The earthquake occurred at 13 km depth. Floods and landslides in Rwanda kill 60

March 11, 2020: Floods and landslides triggered by heavy rainfall have claimed lives of atleast 60 people and damaged more than 1 000 homes since January, the Ministry of Emergency Management (MINEMA) reported. The Rwanda Meteorological Agency has predicted the heavy rainfall to continue until May.

March 4, 2020: At least 23 people have been killed and more than 30 others are missing due to flash floods and landslides triggered by heavy rainfall in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil At least 18 people died in Sao Paulo, the worst affected area. Rescuers are still searching for 25 people who have been missing in the cities of Guaruja, Santos and Sao Vicente. Landslides have washes away several ouses and displaced around 200 people in Guaruja Muniipality. The flooding and landslides in Brazil in January this year killed around 70 people. The worst natural calamities occurred in the states of Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo and Rio de Janeiro.

Strong storm in Vietnam kills 5, damages 6800 houses

March 5, 2020: Strong storm in Vietnam has claimed lives of five people and damaged around 6,800 houses. Tornadoes, heavy rainfall and thunderstorms have been reported in northern Vietnam. According to the the Vietnam Disaster Management Authority (VDMA), storm has affected Yen Bai, Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Lai Chau, Lao Cai, Cao Bang and Son La provinces of Vietnam.

March 9, 2020: Heavy rainfall, strong winds and thunderstorm have claimed lives of at least 27 people and injured 56 others across across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan . The government has declared a week-long Extreme Weather Emergency . Mardan district is worst affected by the recent weather disaster claiming lives of six people including four children. Other fatalities are from Swat district,Peshawar, Nowshera and Charsadda. On other hand, Shangla district received heavy snowfall, causing road closures for the first time in the month of March.

March 6, 2020: An earthquake of 5.5 in magnitude has been felt in Yuma, Arizona today. According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake of magnitude 5.5 occurred in the town of Doctor Alberto Oviedo Mota in Baja, California. The quake's epicenter was located about 67 miles south of Yuma in the Mexican state of Baja California. The Yuma Fire Department tweeted that there is no damage caused by the today's earthquake.

According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), the quake's epicenter was located 16 km far from Siocon, Zamboanga Peninsula, Philippines.  The temblor was recorded at 10:55 p.m. Phivolcs said the quake was tectonic in origin and occurred at 34 kilometers depth.
