Landslide in Kathmandu's Maharajgunj area has killed one and injured two others, Nepal based The Himalayan Times reported. Landslide caused by heavy rainfall hit Khadapakhi located behind the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH). Injured people are having treatment at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu, Nepal. Kathmandu has been battered by heavy rainstorm from last 10 days. Moderate earthquake hits Dominican Republic

M 4.6 moderate earthquake hits Dominican Republic today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located 32 km SE of Boca de Yuma. It was 55.8 miles deep. Light to weak shaking was experienced by the people in the coastal areas. The 1946 Dominican Republic earthquake claimed lives of around 100. New round of tornadoes in Oklahoma and Arkansas injure 9

Update Tornado emergency has been in Oklahoma City. Two, a mother and a child died when storm overturned a car on an interstate highway, USA Today reported. Click here for detail report on OKC tornado . At least two tornadoes touched down in Oklahoma Thursday, Meteorologists in Oklahoma confirmed. Tornado touched the ground near the town of Perkins in northeast Oklahoma whereas a second tornado touched near Ripley. Following Oklahoman Emergency Management officials, no injuries were reported in Oklahoma. Two more tornadoes hit Arkansas on Thursday injuring nine people. At least two were injured by lightning strike in Rogers. Following National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center, tornado warnings were issued in parts of northern Oklahoma including oil hub Cushing which is home to over 65 million barrels of crude oil storage. Flood in Xinjiang, China has claimed lives of two people and affected over 16,400, Xinhua news reported. Flooding has damaged around 700 houses and destroyed 2,100 hectares of farmland in Kashgar. China's central government has allocated 507 million yuan (82.04 million U.S. dollars) for emergency response measures for flooding and water conservancy repair projects. Hailstorm, Cyclone hits Vietnam

Hailstorm and cyclone in Cao Lanh city in Dong Thap province of Vietnam have caused huge damage, Xinhua reported. One hour disaster has blown away roofs of houses and knock down electric poles. Tornado near Milan, Italy injures 2 (video)

A rare tornado hit near Milan, Italy today, The Voice Of Russia reported. Tornado damage is reported heavy throughout the Brianza region. At least two people have been injured by flying debris nearby A4 highway. Earlier on 3rd May 2013, a tornado hit Modena, southeast of Milan and injured several people. Hurricane Barbara claims 6

Update June 2, 2013 Hurricane Barbara caused heavy rainfall in Southwestern Mexico and Central America. Death toll has risen to six with four still missing. Hurricane damage is expected between $750,000 to $1 million. Hurricane Barbara which made landfall Wednesday on southern Pacific coast of Mexico has claimed lives of at least two people. An old man from Colorado died near Puerto Escondido when Hurricane Barbara made landfall at mid afternoon as a Category 1. The 61-year-old man was surfing at Playa Azul. Another 26-year-old Mexican man drowned in Pinotepa Nacional, Reuters reported quoting  local emergency management officials. At least 14 fisherman in Tapanatepec, Oaxaca are still reported to be missing. Oaxaca officials have prepared emergency shelters and suspended schools in coastal areas following Hurricane Barbara in Mexico. According to Emergency Management, tornado damaged 20-25 homes and businesses in Marysville. Emergency crews and police are working in Marysville. Marysville is about 150 miles northwest of Kansas City near the Nebraska border. Other tornadoes touched down in Smith, Jewell County and Clay counties, Kansas City reported quoting Kansas Division of Emergency Management. Tornado destroyed at least two houses in Smith and one house near Esbon. Hailstorms have also been reported in the town of Mankato, Kansas in Jewell County. Wildfire in Southern California today: 4,000 evacuated

Around 4,000 people have been evacuated following wildfire in Southern California today. According to The U.S. Forest Service, the so-called White fire first broke out in the Los Padres National Forest on May 27th, 2013. Los Padres National Forest is located 15 miles north of Santa Barbara. Evacuation orders have been issued for all of Paradise Rd. And Boy Scout camp in the area following the wildfire in Southern California today. The White Fire covers 1,200 acres and is 10% contained. Fire after causing minor damage to a ranger station moved away from the homes and entered deeper into Los Padres National Forest. Landslide in Hidalgo state of Mexico has claimed lives of at least seven people, Federal Police said. Landslide occurred on  the road and buried several vehicles and people when part of hill fall down. People of Tepeji del Rio had earlier mentioned about the unstable land in the area via twitter. According to The Seismic Monitoring Centre of Georgia, the quake's epicenter was located 53 km NE of Sokhumi, Georgia. It was 6.1 miles deep. Chile, Argentina finally order evacuation around Copahue volcano, red alert issued

A red alert has been declared by Chilean and Argentine authorities and ordered the mandatory evacuation of a 25-km (15.5-mile) radius around the Copahue volcano. Around 2,240 people are expected to be evacuated in Chile alone. Note that the evacuation is obligatory, not voluntary. The evacuation could last about 48 hours, Emergency Office in Chile said. Similarly in Neuquen province of Argentina, some 900 people are ordered to evacuate the area. All schools are closed in the municipality. Kashmir flood: 1 killed, Srinagar-Jammu highway closed, 4 bridges washed away

Update 2013/05/27 A flood alert has been issued in Baramulla district in northern Kashmir. All schools in the district are remain closed today. Flooding caused by heavy rainfall in Kupwara district of northern Kashmir has killed one child and washed away four bridges. Landslide triggered by heavy rain closed Srinagar-Jammu and Srinagar-Leh national highway. Landslide hit Seeri area of Ramban district along the national highway. San Antonio flooding kills 3, emergency declared

Update 2013/05/26 -Death toll from San Antonio flood has risen to 3. -The body of 18-year-old was found Sunday near Cibolo Creek. -Earlier bodies of  two women were recovered. Update 20:30 UTC -At least 200 people are believed to be rescued from their homes and cars in San Antonio. -The San Antonio River reached record levels of over 10.5 metres on Saturday. King tides to cause flooding in Auckland today

Strong winds, king tides and flooding are predicted to occur Saturday night and Sunday morning in Auckland, New Zealand . A flood warning has been issued by the New Zealand Transport Agency, Radio New Zealand reports. Flood warning has been issued for drivers in Thames, Auckland travelling on low-lying roads close to the Waitemata Harbour. Heavy rainfall, strong winds with king tides peaking at 3.5 metres are expected. King tides may cause motorway flooding in Auckland. MetService has also issued a severe weather warning for Bay of Plenty, also Fiordland and Westland south of Otira. Heavy rainfall is expected in these regions. Around 70 to 100 mm rainfall is forecast in 18 hours period. Waterspouts and funnel clouds hit Auckland coast some days ago. At least nine dead and one reported missing in coal mine flooding in Zhangqiu in Shandong Province of China, Xinhua reported. The coal mine flood occurred on May 23, 2013 but local authorities confirmed the news today. Colliery owner and others involved in the accident have been taken in custody. 5 dead in Nepal's Kanchenjunga avalanche

At least five mountaineers killed in an avalanche while returning from the peak of Mt Kanchenjunga in Nepal, Online medias from Nepal reported. Two Hungarian, two Nepalese and one South Korean climber were missing from Monday. The deceased were identified as: Hungarians: Zsolt Eross (45) and Peter Kiss (27) Nepalese:  Bibash Gurung (24) and Pho Dorchi (23). South Korean: Namsoo Park (47) Rescue helicopters have failed to locate them due to bad weather. Kangchenjunga is the third highest mountain in the world located in Nepal. Manaslu avalanche disaster in September 2012 claimed lives of 12 climbers. Tornado in South Cotabato, Philippines affects 33 families

Tornado in South Cotabato, Philippines has affected 33 families, causing P500,000 damage, The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said. Tornado occurred about 1:00 PM, 24 May 2013 in Purok Peoples Village, in Barangay Cannery in Polomolok, South Catobato. South Catobato tornado destroyed eight houses and affected 33 families. Tornado damage is estimated P500,000. No injuries have been reported. Disaster risk reduction and management teams have extended food and non food items to the families affected. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located 9 km NNW of Buka and 41 km S of Tashkent. It was 9.8 miles deep. Earthquake was felt for several seconds in Tashkent. Light to weak shaking were reported in Tashkent, Olmaliq and Samarqand. Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara region in Uzbekistan are located in active tectonic area. Uzbekistan earthquake 1996 measured 7.5 on the Richter scale. Moscow earthquake: First tremor in 35 years!

Russia's capital Moscow experienced its first tremor from an earthquake in 35 years today March 24, 2013. Tremor in Moscow was generated from magnitude 8.3 earthquake in Sea of Okhotsk . Russian emergency authorities had issued a tsunami warning for Sakhalin and the Kurile islands but was lifted several minutes later. At least 850 people were evacuated from buildings in Moscow. The Agency of Hydrometeorological and Environmental monitoring said very weak tremor with MMI I was felt in Moscow. Tremors in Moscow are rare. Last earthquake in Moscow was on March 4, 1977 of 4.0-magnitude quake centered in the Carpathian Mountains. Heavy rain and strong storms in Bucharest, the capital city of Romania have injured atleast 18 people including one in critical stage, The Weather Network reported. Tornado in Russia injures 200, emergency declared

At least 200 people have been injured due to tornado in Efremov, near Tula, central Russia,The Moscow Times reported. Tula Governor Vladimir Gruzdev declared a state of emergency during his participation in storm clean up. Following Emergency Situations Ministry, Russian tornado damaged 179 houses, five schools and two kindergartens. Tornado in Russia has also left about 1,500 people without electricity. Around 3,500 Armies were deployed in the disaster area. Government has promised compensation as much as 50,000 rubles ($1,500) to those affected by the tornado. Moderate earthquake shakes Algiers

M 4.6 moderate earthquake shakes Algiers, the capital and largest city of Algeria, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre reported. According to the EMSC, the quake's epicenter was located just 1 km N of L’Arba and 21 km SE of Algiers. It was 60 km deep. Light to weak tremor were reported by the people of  El Harrach, Bab Ezzouar, Bir Mourad Raïs, Chéraga, Aïn Benian, Boumerdes, Lakhdaria, Médéa and Algiers. No damage or injuries have been reported. Northern Algeria lies at the boundary between the African Plate and the Eurasian Plate. Earthquake in Algiers in 2003 (called Boumerdès earthquake) claimed lives of 2,278 people. Magnitude 6.8 earthquake had its epicenter located in Thénia in Boumerdès Province, approximately 60 km east of the capital Algiers. Flooding in Kathmandu, Nepal

Flash flooding in Kathmandu has swept away at least two houses, Nepal based EKantipur reported. Nepal Armies were mobilized in Kalikasthan and Baneshwor areas after two houses swept away by floods in Baneshwor. Around 71 Army personnel were deployed to control the situation. Heavy rainfall also closed Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), Nepal's only one international airport, for an hour. At least three international flights were diverted due to poor visibility. Following Nepal Meteorological Forecasting Division, around 41.6 mm of rainfall was recorded within three hours in Kathmandu.
