Tornado in South Cotabato, Philippines affects 33 families

Tornado in South Cotabato, Philippines has affected 33 families, causing P500,000 damage, The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said.

Tornado occurred about 1:00 PM, 24 May 2013 in Purok Peoples Village, in Barangay Cannery in Polomolok, South Catobato.

South Catobato tornado destroyed eight houses and affected 33 families. Tornado damage is estimated P500,000.

No injuries have been reported.

Disaster risk reduction and management teams have extended food and non food items to the families affected.

Tornado in South Cotabato Province of Philippines in 2009 destroyed 18 hectares of farmland with total of eight million pesos (166,000 USD) damage.
