May 20, 2020: A loud sound heard in Bangalore on Wednesday afternoon left the city residents panicked. The sound was heard from as far as the Bengaluru airport in Devanahalli to the IT hub of Electronic City. Several residents posted on Twitter, wondering if an earthquake had hit the Karnataka capital. However, the Karnataka's natural disaster monitoring centre confirmed that it was not because of an earthquake. The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre tweeted that they have checked  sensors and there is no earthquake activity recorded today. Later people shared it to be sonic boom caused due to a fighter jet. But, the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) claimed it to be false. April 7, 2020: Recently a WhatsApp message has been viral in India claiming the NASA alert on mega earthquake predicted to hit National Capital Delhi between 7th April to 15th April, 2020. However, the video predicting earthquake to hit Delhi between April 7 to April 15, 2020 is totally FAKE! The video which is actually dated back to 2018 claims that NASA predicted an earthquake of magnitude 9.1 in New Delhi. Similar WhatsApp message was viral in 2018 as well claiming NASA report on predicting a magnitude 9.1 earthquake in Delhi between 7th April to 15th April, 2020. The message in 2018 also claimed that the earthquake's epicenter would be Gurugram. The earthquake would cause damage in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, J&K to Tamilnadu, Rajasthan to Bihar. But the tremor was from an explosion in Akure around 12:30 am on Saturday morning. January 13, 2020: A news became viral about 4.1 magnitude earthquake near Dover, Delaware at about 4:47pm today. People were surprised to read the news as they didn't feel any tremor in Delaware today. The earthquake news is just a rumor and viral hoax . The news claimed that the earthquake was felt along the U.S. East Coast from Massachusetts to central Virginia, including New York City, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C. We found that the earthquake news that went viral today was pulled from a post back in November 2017. This was actually an old post of the earthquake being shared online that rattled Delaware in November 2017. But people started sharing the earthquake news without looking the mentioned date.  We even confirmed with the United States Geological Survey (USGS) that there was no earthquake recorded in Dover, Delaware today. May 23, 2019: Rumor of 7.0 magnitude earthquake in Hong Kong today has panicked people causing thousands of people surfing search engines to know the details. The rumor started from the Facebook mentioning magnitude 7.0 earthquake in Hong Kong on May 23, 2019. People started sharing mentioning the doomsday for Hong Kong. A twitter handle Gemini mentioned that, "Few days ago, people here in Hong Kong panicked because of the news escalated on Facebook that a 7.0 magnitude earthquake will gonna hit today." The news soon became viral after the South China Morning Post tweeted about a mega earthquake hitting Hong Kong this week. May 13, 2019: There is a rumor spread about another severe tropical cyclone in Odisha in June 2019.  The message has been widely spreading across social medias. People in Odisha are warned of another severe cyclone after Fani . We would like to suggest to check the India Meteorological Department Website instead of running behind the rumors. If there are any storm or cyclone details, the website will provide the necessary information. People are panicked after the recent cyclone Fani slammed Odisha causing deaths of 64 as of today. March 25, 2019: Volcano eruption at Bikita has feared people after villager interviewed by the Civil Protection Department CPD alleged that a fire was seen at the mountain top. A huge rock estimated to weigh between 10 and 15 tonnes fell from Mapadza Mountain in Bikita on Saturday,  Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) reported. The Civil Protection Department (CPD) in Masvingo has already dispatched a team to Bikita in Masvingo province to look the situation. No injuries have been reported. Flyover collapse in Kolkata, India (PTI via India Today) People were panicked after a flyover collapsed in Indian central Kolkata's near the famous Ganesh Talkies with a loud boom. The eyewitnesses initially thought of a massive earthquake which shook the ground after the flyover collapsed Thursday afternoon. A flyover under construction since 2009 collapsed in Kolkata on 31st March 2016, killing at least 21 people. Surprisingly, builder company in a statement mentioned it as an "act of God".

There are rumours circulating about a tsunami threat in Fiji. People are panicked after the false news about the recent tsunami warning issued for Suva, the capital city of Fiji. There is currently no signal for tsunami threat in Fiji. No major earthquakes have been recorded.

A rumor has spread in Durban City in KwaZulu-Natal Province of South Africa about the recent threat of Tsunami in the area.  The rumor came into surface after a tremor was felt in Durban and surrounding areas on February 6, 2016 . However, no earthquakes has been recorded by Seismological Center (not even by locals).

There are lots of discussions going on social medias that a huge earthquake with magnitude 9.8 will hit California on May 28, 2015 at 4pm local time. People are worried about the planetary alignment on May 28 which will create such massive earthquake. So, how real is the source? Well the straight forward answer to it is, TOTALLY FAKE .
