Massive landslip on Dorset coast

Update -South West Coast Path has been closed by Dorset County Council. -Landslip on Dorset coast happened overnight. -At least 21 landslips have occurred in last three months which is higher than the average of 2-3 per year. -People are urged to stay away from the cliff edge. Massive landslip on Dorset coast path near Durdle Door has been reported. Landslip occurred at St Oswald's Bay, east of Durdle Door, BBC News mentions. No injury has been reported. The beach is popular and very close to the Durdle Door Caravan Park. Several landslides occurred earlier this month at nearby White Nothe. Cliff fall at St Oswald's Bay, Dorset; MCA Locals are advised to observe the warning signs and stay away from the edge. Lightning in Oman claims 2, floods cause chaos

Recent lightning strike in Oman has claimed two lives, Muscat Daily mentions. First lightning occurred in Mekhaileef in the wilayat of Saham and claimed life of a Bangladeshi. Another lightning struck an India in Fahud in the wilayat of Ibri. At least three others injured in the same disaster. Floods have halted the traffic between Saham and Sohar. Rock slide has blocked mountain road between Bausher and Amerat, Muscat Daily adds. Power outages have also been reported in Ghubra and Al Khuwayr, Muscat. Sultanate flood; Muscat Daily Heavy rainfall earlier caused flooding in Wadis. At least 30 people were rescued from Ibri, Oman. Following the Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance (PACDA), at least 320 people have been rescued in last seven days. Trinidad and Tobago tropical storm rumors false

The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service has advised people not to run behind the rumors of tropical storm approaching Trinidad and Tobago. On a media release on April 29, 2013 at 10:00 p.m, T&T Meteorological Service has officially claimed this. T&T Meteorological Service notice says that RUMOURS circulating about a tropical storm approaching Trinidad and Tobago are NOT true. The Met Office has also urged to ignore bbm/textmessages that may be circulating. The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service has discontinued the flood alert in their latest bulletin at 6:00 pm. North Carolina landslide 2013

Heavy rainfalls have caused landslide in North Carolina near the Tennessee border. According to Haywood County Sheriff's Office, landslide occurred on Cove Creek Road. The landslide is four-miles from Highway 276 and both lanes are closed, WYFF4.com writes. North Carolina landslide closed a section of Cove Creek Road in Haywood County. Landslide closed both lanes of Robert Hill Road in the Marshall community. Following N.C. Department of Transportation, the road will be closed till May 6. Landslide also hit home on Robert's Hill Road just outside Marshall, Wlos.com writes. Weather forecaster predicts more rainfall on Wednesday. Mount Etna erupts in Sicily, Italy with spewing lava and ash hundreds of feet into the air. Mount Etna eruption is thirteenth time this year, Your Reporter News Italy mentions. The huge burst was observed even by residents of Catania and Taormina. Smoke and ash by Etna were sent up to 3,000ft in the air. Mount Shirouma avalanche in Japan over the weekend claimed three lives, Japanese News mentions. Fourth person has also been recovered from Mt Fuji in Japan. Two other climbers are still reported to be missing in an avalanche on Mount Shirouma in Nagano prefecture. Heavy rainfalls have caused flash floods in Singapore today. The flash floods in Singapore occurred at about 10.40 am today. The water reached a depth of about 35 cm at the junction of Chai Chee Road and New Upper Changi Road, AsiaOne mentions. Flooding in Houston 2013: Houston flood photos

Flash flooding in Houston, Texas has caused huge power outages, local media reports. Storms caused heavy rainfall and hail on the Greater Houston area. About six inches of rainfall has been recorded within three hours in some parts of Harris County. Golf ball-sized hails have also been reported in parts of the Houston. Several roads are closed in Harris County and Fort Bent County. Following CenterPoint Energy, the domestic energy delivery company, around 44,927 customers were without power as of 7:00 a.m. The National Weather Service issued a severe weather alert Saturday afternoon and has now extended to 1 a.m. Sunday with severe thunderstorm warning for the Houston area. M 2.7 weak earthquake hits South Korea today, The Korea Meteorological Administration mentions on its Website. Earthquake in South Korea today occurred at 3:39 a.m. According to the South Korea News, the quake's epicenter was located 42 kilometers off the coast of Geomun Island in Yeosu, South Jeolla Province. Forest fire in Israel today

Update Around 200 people have been evacuated due to wildfire near Beit Shemesh. About twenty firefighting crews are struggling to control the blaze. A new forest fire has broke out near Kfar Uriya located near Beit Shemesh, Israel, Jerusalem Post mentions. Residents have been evacuated early morning following the forest fire in Israel today. At least two hikers were injured in the forest fire in Ben Shemen, near Modiin yesterday. They were immediately dispatched to Asaf Harofeh Hospital with minor burns. Seasonal flooding in Afghanistan's Baghlan province has killed a child and damaged around 50 houses, Pajhwok Afghan News mentions. The boy died and mother wounded in a house collapse in Jalgah district of Afghanistan. Floods also damaged around 500 acres of crops. Flood in Shamraq and Boghawi areas have damaged several roads. Landslide in Mawo Village near Bijie City of China has claimed lives of at least three villagers, Xinhua News mentions. Eight villagers were buried in the Mawo landslide. Tornado in Bulacan region of Philippines has badly damaged four houses, ABS-CBN News mentions. Tornado also damaged roofs of six other houses in Bustos, Bulacan area. Mudslide in Zojila along Srinagar-Kargil Road has claimed life of one person. The mudslide swept a Tata-Mobile vehicle carrying three people, Kashmir Observer mentions. Two person including a driver are having treatment in the hospital in critical condition. A Tata-Mobile carrying chicken from Srinagar to Kargil was hit by a mudslide and pushed into a gorge. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located 3 km SE from Marina del Rey and 19 km WSW from Los Angeles Civic Center. It was 8.0 miles deep. Light to weak shaking has been reported from West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Compton, Culver City, Downey, El Segundo, Gardena, Hawthorne, Hermosa Beach, Huntington Park, Lawndale, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Venice, Marina del Rey, Playa del Rey, Inglewood, Santa Monica, Torrance, Lomita, Studio City and Los Angeles. Tsunami debris California 2013: Japan Tsunami boat reaches Crescent City

Japanese fishing boat washed by 2011 tsunami has been confirmed as the first piece of debris to reach the coast of California. The 20-foot boat is the first remnant from the disaster zone to reach the state.  Tsunami boat belonging to the Takata High School in Rikuzentakata, in Iwate Prefecture of Japan reached Crescent City of California on April 7, 2013. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, NOAA, and the Japanese Consulate in San Francisco confirmed this news. According to the Japanese government, about 1.5 million tons of debris was floating in the ocean immediately after the Tsunami disaster. Marshall Islands: Drought Emergency declared

Government has declared drought emergency in Marshall Islands following a severe drought in the northern Marshall Islands. Wotje Atoll, the northern Marshall Islands region has experienced zero rainfall on several of the previous months. Ujae, Lae, Wotho, Lib, Namo, Ailuk, Mejit, Wotje, Aur, Enewetak, Maloelap, Ebeye, and Likiep areas are severely affected by the drought, Yokwe mentions. Drought recommendation notice was passed by disaster preparedness committee and signed by President. Government officials will be soon dispatched to drought-affected areas with drought relief materials. The Republic of the Marshall Islands is located in the northern Pacific Ocean. Update According to Fox News, up to 50 U.S. and Coalition military helicopters have been badly damaged in a hailstorm at Kandahar Airfield in Afghanistan. A huge hailstorm with rock-sized hailstones have claimed lives of three Afghans, The Telgraph mentions. The half-hour storm caused damage of millions of pounds at Kandahar Airfield. Hailstorm also grounded several British aircraft. Kandahar Airfield, built by United States is located 10 miles south-east of Kandahar City in Afghanistan. Landslide in Ecuador has buried at least 14 people, Xinhua news agency reports. Landslide occurred in Tabete in the Chinca district of Esmeraldas, a coastal province in Ecuador. Rains in Malawi damage roof of 200 houses

Rains in Malawi have damaged roofs of more than 200 houses, Nyasa Times reports. Rainstorm in Mangochi district of Malawi also injured two people. Roof damage is also seen at Mpondasi Community Day Secondary School (CDSS). Hundreds of people are reported to be homeless following the rains in Malawai. Forest fire in Valparaiso, Chile destroys 60 homes

Recent forest fire in Valparaiso, Chile has destroyed at least 60 homes, The Telegraph mentions. Around 150 families have been evacuated from the fire zone. Fire is burning on the La Cruz and Mariposas hills in the Chilean city of Valparaiso. According to the National Office of Emergencies, fire has burned an area of 60 hectares between the two hills among eucalyptus forests and pastureland. Flooding in Balkh, Afghanistan claims 13

Flooding in Balkh, Afghanistan has claimed lives of thirteen people including two children, Xinhua News mentions. Flooding occurred in Sholgara and Kashandi districts in northern Balkh province of Afghanistan. Flooding in Balkh also washed away two schools and a clinic. Recent landslide in Guizhou province of China has claimed lives of nine people, Xinhua News mentions. At least two people are still missing in the landslide disaster. Lushan, Sichuan earthquake 2013 kills 186

M 6.6 deadly earthquake hits Western Sichuan, China on April 20, 2013, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located 52 km WSW of Linqiong and 97 km ENE of Kangding. It was 7.6 miles deep. Earthquake that struck in Lushan county, near the city of Ya'an in the southwestern province of Sichuan has killed at least 186 people till 12:00 UTC, April 21, 2013. Most of the deaths occurred in Lushan. At least 21 people are still reported to be missing in Lushan earthquake. Earthquake has injured around 11,492 people. Following Xinhua News Agency, 18,000 troops were in the area to help with rescue efforts.
