Mt Shirouma avalanche in Japan claims 3

Mount Shirouma avalanche in Japan over the weekend claimed three lives, Japanese News mentions. Fourth person has also been recovered from Mt Fuji in Japan.

Two other climbers are still reported to be missing in an avalanche on Mount Shirouma in Nagano prefecture.

The 1910 Rogers Pass Avalanche in Canada killed 32 Japanese workers.  It is Canada's worst ever avalanche disaster.

Each year avalanches claim more than 150 people worldwide. 90% of all avalanches occur on moderate slopes with an angle of 30° to 45°.
