May 25, 2020: A weak earthquake of magnitude 3.3 has been felt in Hollister, California today at 8:27 am local time. According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake's epicenter was located 5km NE of Tres Pinos and 10 km WNW of Hollister,California. The earthquake occurred at 8 km depth. No preliminary damage or injuries have been reported from earthquake in Hollister, CA today.

May 21, 2020: A rare tornado ripped through several villages on Indonesia’s Sumatra island, killing at least two people and damaging around 245 homes. The tornado touched down in Lampung province’s Tulang Bawang district, the National Disaster Mitigation Agency said.

May 21, 2020: A weak, short-lived EF0 tornado touched down in Saanich, B.C. today, the Environment Canada confirmed. The rare tornado in Saanich only lasted a few seconds and there were no reported injuries. According to  the Environment Canada , EF0 tornadoes have wind speeds of between 90 and 130 km/hr.

May 21, 2020: An earthquake of magnitude 3.4 has been recorded in Bhaktapur today at 8:14 am local time, the Nepal's National Seismological Center confirmed. According to the Seismological Center, the epicenter was located around Anantalingeshwar, Bhaktapur. The tremor well felt across Kathmandu valley and adjoining areas. No preliminary damage or injuries have been reported. This is the second earthquake felt in Nepal today. Magnitude 3.0 earthquake was recorded around Uku area of Darchula today at 2:41 am local time. May 20, 2020: A loud sound heard in Bangalore on Wednesday afternoon left the city residents panicked. The sound was heard from as far as the Bengaluru airport in Devanahalli to the IT hub of Electronic City. Several residents posted on Twitter, wondering if an earthquake had hit the Karnataka capital. However, the Karnataka's natural disaster monitoring centre confirmed that it was not because of an earthquake. The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre tweeted that they have checked  sensors and there is no earthquake activity recorded today. Later people shared it to be sonic boom caused due to a fighter jet. But, the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) claimed it to be false. May 18, 2020: A moderate earthquake of magnitude 5.0 has struck Qiaojia County in southwest China's Yunnan Province late Monday. At least four people have been killed and others 24 others have been injured. According to the Xinhua News Agency , the Yunnan provincial disaster reduction committee office and the provincial emergency response department have launched a level-four response for the disaster relief and sent a working group to the disaster area to assist and guide the earthquake relief work.

Q: When will Amphan Cyclone hit in India? A: Amphan Cyclone is expected to make a landfall in India this Wednesday on May 20, 2020. According to the India Meteorological Department, Amphan is likely to cross West Bengal-Bangladesh coasts between Digha (West Bengal) and Hatiya Islands (Bangladesh) on May 20, 2020. Coastal districts of West Bengal are expected to have rainfall until May 20. The states of West Bengal and Odisha are on high alert. Super Cyclonic Storm Amphan is currently active over the Bay of Bengal threatening Odisha and West Bengal in India as well as Bangladesh. This is the first tropical cyclone of the 2020 North Indian Ocean cyclone season.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) has recorded a strong earthquake of magnitude 6.5 with epicenter located 56 km far from Tonopah, Nevada. May 14, 2020: A small earthquake of magnitude 2.7 has been felt in Kingston, Jamaica today at 04:03 pm local time. According to the United States Geological Survey, the earthquake's epicenter was located 26 km far from Kingston, Jamaica. The earthquake occurred at 10 km depth. The tremor was felt by the people of Half Way Tree, Constant Spring, Gordon town, Stony Hill and Mona, Kingston.

May 14, 2020: A light earthquake of magnitude 4.3 has been recorded in Burra today at 03:23 pm local time. According to Geoscience Australia , the earthquake in Burra today occurred at 10 km depth. The epicenter was located near Burra, north of Adelaide. Geoscieince Australia received more than 500 earthquake felt reports within 24 hours. The tremor was felt from Mount Barker to Jamestown. This is the largest earthquake within 100 kilometres in the past 10 years. No preliminary damage or injuries have been reported from the earthquake in Burra today.

May 12, 20202: Magnitude 5.3 moderate earthquake has been recorded in Dolakha, Nepal today with tremor even felt in several areas of Bihar, India at 11:53 pm local time. According to the Nepal's National Seismological Center, the earthquake's epicenter was located around Jugu area of Dolakha district along Jiri-Khadichaur Highway. The earthquake occurred at 10 km depth. People of Kathmandu valley reported of light to weak shaking of MMI III-IV. The tremor was felt as far as Hetauda and Birgunj.  People from several areas of Bihar, Indian also reported about a jolt felt at the same time. Most of the earthquake felt reports were received from Patna and Muzaffarpur. No preliminary damage or injuries have been reported. According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the seismicity in the Himalaya dominantly results from the continental collision of the India and Eurasia plates. Magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Nepal in 2015 killed nearly 9,000 people.

May 6, 2020: A strong earthquake of magnitude 6.8 earthquake has been recorded in Banda Sea today at 10:53 pm, Geoscience Australia confirmed. According to the Geoscience Australia, the earthquake occurred at a greater depth of 142 km. The deeper earthquake are generally felt in wide areas.  Geoscience Australia received hundreds of earthquake felt reports from Darwin. No preliminary damage or injuries have been reported due to the earthquake.

May 4, 2020: At least six people have been died and around 5,000 have been displaced as intense rains continue to flood parts of Uganda. Severe flooding has affected parts of the Isingiro District, including the sub-counties of Kabuyanda, Mwizi, and Birere from last week. A section of tarmac road was also washed away by floods in Isingiro, Southern Uganda following torrential rains.

May 3, 2020: Magnitude 3.3 earthquake has been recorded in Chatsworth, California today at 10:19 UTC, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported. According to the USGS,  the earthquake's epicenter was located just 1 km NW of Chatsworth and 12 km far from Simi Valley,CA. The earthquake occurred at 7 km depth. USGS received earthquake felt reports from Chatsworth, Northridge, Porter Ranch, Reseda, Canoga Park, Winnetka, Simi Valley, Granada Hills, Sherman Oaks, Sylmar, Woodland Hills, Va Nuys and as far as Los Angeles, CA. No preliminary damage or injuries have been reported.

May 1, 2020: In 2020, the Eta Aquarids meteor shower will peak on the night between 5–6 May, 2020. The Eta Aquarids is a moderately active meteor shower associated with the Comet Halley. The Eta Aquarids is one of two meteor showers created by debris from Comet Halley. The other is the Orionid meteor shower which comes in October. The Earth passes through Halley's path around the Sun a second time in October. This creates the Orionid meteor shower, which peaks around October 20. The name 'Aquarid' comes from one of the stars from this constellation called Eta Aquarii. The Eta Aquarids meteor shower is usually active between April 19 and May 28 every year. How to see the Eta Aquarids meteor shower in 2020?
