Magnitude 3.8 earthquake shakes Pokhara, Nepal

Update 10:15 pm According to the Nepal Seismological Center, an earthquake of magnitude 3.8 has been recorded in Kaski with epicenter in Ghachok. The tremor was well felt in Pokhara valley. Magnitude 4.8 earthquake hits Sindhupalchowk, Nepal — Tremor felt in Kathmandu Valley

Update 07:35 pm The Nepal Seismological Center has confirmed magnitude 4.8 moderate earthquake in Sindhupalchowk district of Nepal. The epicenter was located north of Kiwool. The earthquake occurred at 07:11 pm local time. The tremor was well felt across Bhaktapur, Lalitpur and Kathmandu district of Nepal. No damage or injuries has been reported. Last month, an earthquake of magnitude 5.0 was recorded in Sindhupalchowk as well. The epicenter was located in Phulpingkot area of Sindhupalchowk district. Nepal lies in high seismic hazard zone. The April 2015 Nepal earthquake killed nearly 9,000 people and injured nearly 22,000. Update 07:25 pm We have received report of earthquake of magnitude 4.8 in Sindhupalchowk district of Nepal. It was well felt across Kathmandu Valley. However, the Nepal Seismological Center hasn't mentioned about this earthquake in its website. Mudslide in Pokhara, Nepal kills four

December 01, 2019: A mudslide in Pokhara has claimed lives of four persons and left one other missing. The four deceased have been identified as the residents of Pedikhola, Bagchaur Municipality-4 of Salyan district. The mudslide occurred at the time the workers were constructing sewage channels alongside the Bhalam-Mauja rural road section.

5.0 magnitude earthquake shakes Kathmandu, epicenter in Sindhupalchowk

November 27, 2019: Tremor has been felt in capital Kathmandu following magnitude 5.0 moderate earthquake in Sindhupalchowk district, Nepal Seismological Center reported. According to the Nepal Seismological Center, the earthquake occurred at 10:08 pm with epicenter in Phulpingkot area of Sindhupalchowk district. No damage or injuries has been reported. Nepal lies in high seismic hazard zone. The April 2015 Nepal earthquake killed nearly 9,000 people and injured nearly 22,000.

Magnitude 5.7 earthquake in Bajhang rattles Nepal and India

November 19, 2019: Magnitude 5.7 strong earthquake has been recorded in Bajhang district of Nepal at 07:15 pm local time. According to the Nepal Seismological Center, the earthquake's epicenter was located in Pauwagadhi area of Khaptad National park. However, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported magnitude 5.3 with epicenter 21 km far from Dipayal region of Far Western Nepal. The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 10 km. Light to weak tremor of MMI III-IV was felt across state 5 of Nepal. It was well felt in Kailali, Kalikot, Darchula, Dailekh, Bajura, Achham and Nepalgunj area.  People rushed out of their houses in fear as the tremors continued for over 3 seconds. The tremor was also felt in Lucknow and Delhi NCR region of India . Last week, tremor was also felt in Far Western Nepal after magnitude 4.5 earthquake with epicenter in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand, India . 

4.5 magnitude earthquake hits Uttarakhand, tremor also felt in Nepal

November 12, 2019: Tremor has been felt in Uttarakhand area of India and Far-western region of Nepal after magnitude 4.5 earthquake hit the area Tuesday morning. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the epicenter was located in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand. The earthquake occurred at 07:30 am local time. However, Nepal Seismological center has recorded magnitude 4.6 earthquake and reported that the tremor was even felt in Darchula, a region located in Far-western Nepal. The epicenter was located near Dwali, SW of Lipulek. Currently, there is controversy on Nepal-India border after the new map of India kept Kalapani and Lipulek in its territory.

NEPAL: Magnitude 4.2 earthquake recorded in Taplejung

October 20, 2019: Magnitude 4.2 light earthquake has been recorded in Taplejung at 07:24 pm Sunday, Nepal Seismological Center reported. According to the Nepal Seismological Center, the earthquake epicenter was located at Kanchanjunga Conservation Area. The epicenter lies nearby the Nepal Tibet border. Last felt earthquake in Nepal was of magnitude 4.4 in western part with epicenter in Rukum/Baglung border. No preliminary damage or injuries have been reported. Two injured as Yeti Airlines aircraft skids off due to slippery runway caused by heavy rainfall

July 12, 2019: An aircraft of Yeti Airlines skidded off due to the slippery runway caused by the heavy rainfall at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu. According to the Yeti Airlines, the flight number NYT-422 (9N-AMM) coming from Nepalgunj skids of the runway at Kathmandu Airport at 11:05 am. At least two people have been injured in the incident, The Annapurna Post reported. There has been continuous rainfall in the Kathmandu Valley since Thursday evening.

Magnitude 4.6 earthquake rattles Kathmandu Valley, epicenter in Bhaktapur

July 6, 2019: Nepal Seismological Center has recorded magnitude 4.6 earthquake inside Kathmandu Valley with epicenter in Bhaktapur. The earthquake occurred at 04:15 pm Saturday afternoon. The epicenter was located near Bhajya Pukhu, north of Bhaktapur Multiple Campus. No damage or injury has been reported. Magnitude 5.1 earthquake recorded in Dailekh - Epicenter near Baluwatar

May 12, 2019: An earthquake of magnitude 5.1 has been recorded in Dailekh district of Karnali province of Nepal. According to the Nepal Seismological center, the earthquake occurred at 00:36 midnight. The quake's epicenter was located near Baluwatar.  No preliminary damage or injuries have been reported. Last week, magnitude 4.0 earthquake occurred in Sindhupalchowk district of Nepal. This was the aftershock of magnitude 7.9 earthquake which occurred in Gorkha, Nepal on April 25, 2015.

Two earthquakes recorded in Dhading, Nepal

Earthquake epicenter map Update 07:23 am According to the Nepal Seismological center, two earthquakes have been recorded today in an interval of eleven minutes in Dhading district. The first earthquake of magnitude 5.2 occurred at 06:29 am. The epicenter was located near Naubise. The second earthquake of magnitude 4.3 occurred at 06:40 am. Both are the aftershocks of magnitude 7.9 earthquake which occurred in Gorkha, Nepal on April 25, 2015 . Update 6:54 am According to the United States Geological Survey, the magnitude 4.7 earthquake epicenter was located 31 km far from Kathmandu in Dhading area at Katuwalgaun.  The nearby villages are Baghmara, Charipauwa, Admaragaun, Thakani Gairigaun, Nayangaun and others. We expect moderate damages in these hilly areas. However, we will be waiting for the official earthquake details from Nepal Government. First recorded tornado in Nepal kills 29 in Bara and Parsa

April 8, 2019: A preliminary report by the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DoHM) has confirmed the first recorded tornado in Nepal which caused damages in Bara and Parsa, the Terai districts of Nepal. According to the satellite image, the tornado in Bara and Parsa district of Nepal covered at least 30 kilometres distance with width of the trail around 200 to 250 metres. The devastating natural disaster was reported between 7:45pm and 8:15pm on March 31, 2019. DoHM with the support from Small Earth Nepal investigated the storm in Nepal. Madan Lal Shrestha, former director general of DoHM and academician of Nepal Academy of Science Technology, a group of scientists found that Bara's windstorm was tornado. Nepal: Storm in Bara and Parsa kills 29, injures 600

Update April 7, 2019 A preliminary report by the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DoHM) has confirmed the first recorded tornado in Nepal which caused damages in Bara and Parsa districts. Main Post April 1, 2019: Storm accompanied by hailstorms and rain has claimed lives of at least 29 people and injured more than 600 people. According to the local authorities, 28 people died in Bara district and one in Parsa district of Nepal. Most of the fatalities are from Pheta and Bhulahi Bharwaliya areas in Bara district. Injured people are having treatment at Birgunj-based National Medical College and Narayani Sub-regional Hospital. Several people are also admitted at Kalaiya hospital. The rainstorm on Sunday evening damaged hundreds of houses, electric poles and uprooted trees obstructing the roads. The natural disaster also led to a power outage last night while the internet services have resumed in the affected districts, The Himalayan Times reported.

M4.1 earthquake hits Chitlang today - Nepal Seismological Center

March 18, 2019: Magnitude 4.1 earthquake rattled Chitlang today at 09:01 am, Nepal Seismological Center reported. According to the Nepal Seismological Center, the earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 10km. The epicenter was located near Indreni Mushroom Resort Chitlang, Makwanpur.  The tremor was also felt in Kathmandu and the surrounding areas. The tremor lasted for 2-3 seconds. No preliminary damage or injuries have been reported. Last month, magnitude 4.0 earthquake was recorded in Kirtipur . The earthquake was widely across Kathmandu valley.

Snowfall in Kathmandu after 12 yrs - Observed in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur

February 28, 2019: Kathmandu valley residents were welcomed with snowfall on Thursday morning.  The snowfall lasted for around 15 minutes at 6:45 am across the city areas of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur areas. However, the snowfall lasted for hours in the surrounding hills of Kathmandu valley. Lightning strike kills woman in Birgunj, Nepal

February 27, 2019: Lightning strike in Birgunj has claimed life of a woman and injured other woman. The fatality has been identified as 30 years old, Ruafaja Khatun of Birgunj Metropolitan City. Another injured woman is having treatment at Birgunj Health Care Hospital.

Two light earthquakes recorded in Nepal in last 24 hrs

Earthquake epicenter map (NSC) February 26, 2019: Nepal Seismological Center has recorded two light earthquakes in last 24 hours in Sindhupalchowk and Dolakha district of Nepal. Magnitude 4.4 earthquake was recorded in Dolakha district at 04:15 pm Tuesday. The epicenter was located near Bhimeshwor Municipality. Five minutes later, magnitude 4.1 earthquake was recorded in Sindhupalchowk district. The epicenter was located near Marming. No damage or injuries have been recorded from these earthquakes. Two weeks earlier, Nepal Seismological Center had recorded magnitude 4.0 earthquake with epicenter in Kirtipur . 

Lightning in Panchthar, Nepal kills 1

February 17, 2019: Lightning in Panchthar has claimed life of a person and injured 10 others. Lightning killed Bhagendra Tamang,17, a resident of Pauwasartapka in Phalgunandana rural municipality-3.
