Tropical wave causes flooding in Puerto Rico: Emergency management office

A tropical wave passing over Puerto Rico has caused heavy flooding in Puerto Rico, emergency management office said today.

Tropical wave caused lightning, flooding and knocked down several tress and light posts, emergency management office added.

San Juan's main international airport has recorded nearly five inches of rainfall, AFP reported.

Several flights at the Luis Munoz Marin international airport were delayed.

According to National Weather Service, tropical wave has moved towards Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

The 1985 Puerto Rico floods claimed lives of 185 people. Floods and landslides were caused due to a westward-moving tropical wave.
