S. China rain claims 15, damage expected $277.16 M

Heavy rainfall in southern China have claimed lives of at least 15 people, the National Commission for Disaster Reduction said.

The National Meteorological Center has issued thunder and rainstorm alerts.

Flash flooding has affected nine provinces in southern and eastern China including Anhui, Hubei, Hunan and Jiangxi, Xinhua reported.

Natural disaster damage is expected about 277.16 million U.S. dollars. Disaster relief materials have already been send to the areas.
