Cambodia flooding kills 23

Flooding in Cambodia has claimed lives of at least 23 people in the last two weeks, National Committee for Disaster Management (NCDM) said today. Cambodia flooding has affected around 56,900 families in seven different provinces. Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen has advised concerned ministries and authorities to be on high alert and prepare to evacuate people. Low pressure system and Wutip typhoon have been causing heavy rains in the Mekong River basin and in Cambodia, weather officials said. Last year, Cambodia flooding killed 14 people, Xinhua reported. The 2011 Cambodia flooding had claimed lives of at least 250 people. Cambodia flooding damage was US$ 100-161 Million. Flooding is one of the main natural disaster in Cambodia as 80 percent of the Cambodia’s territory lies within the Mekong River. 24 killed in flash floods in Vietnam

Recent flash floods in Vietnam have claimed lives of at least 24 people and injured six others. Fatalities are from Dak Lak, Ha Tinh, Nghe An, Quang Nam, and Quang Tri Provinces of Vietnam. Bolivia landslide kills 16, injures 18

A landslide in Bolivia triggered by torrential rain has claimed lives of at least 16 people and injured 18 others. Landslide swept away a bus, a minibus and a cart in Caranavi area, about 180 kilometers from La Paz. Others 10 people have been rescued. An unknown number of people are still reported to be missing. 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Pakistan kills 400, Awaran declares emergency

September 26, 2013 -Death toll has risen to 400. More than 600 people reported to be injured. -Another “Mud Volcano Island” has appeared on the Makran coast. The new island is located near River Basil. -The National Disaster Management Authority has provided 5,000 tents and 7,000 food packs for the affected people in Awaran and Kech districts of Pakistan. Update 19:50 UTC Death toll from Awaran earthquake has risen to 150. The new island off the coast of Gwadar, in the Arabian sea, and is estimated to be about 30m long and around 10m high. Floods, landslides in Zambales kill 30

Landslides and floods triggered by monsoon rains have claimed lives of at least 30 people in Zambales province of Philippines on Monday. Two separate landslides in Barangay Wawandue and Barangay San Isidro in Subic town claimed at least 18 lives,  ABS-CBN has reported quoting Mayor Jefferson Khonghun. Five people have been killed in Castillejos, Zambales. Other bodies have been retrieved from a landslide in Barangay Aglao, San Marcelino town in Zambales. Floods have displaced around 700 people living in Sta Rita. village in Olongapo City, PAGASA said. Similarly Olongapo has been placed under a state of calamity due to floods triggered by heavy rains since Sunday evening. Typhoon Usagi passed the northern Philippines this weekend. Romania flooding 2013 kills 8

Flooding in Romania have claimed lives of eight people and flooded around 700 houses in Galati county, local medias reported. Forty-five people have been rescued from the floodwaters and 330 people have been evacuated from their homes in Romania. Worst affected is the Cudalbi, where 500 houses and their gardens have been flooded, forcing 200 people to leave their homes. Train traffic on the route Galaţi-Bârlad between Târgu Bujor and Floteşti have been also affected, Romania Resider reported. Prime Minister Victor Ponta has sent a deputy to view the area and called an emergency meeting Thursday to discuss the flood situation in Romania. Landslides in Mexico kill 13 (updated)

Update 05:05 UTC; 2013/09/11 Death toll from Mexico landslides have risen to 13, AFP reported quoting a state civil protection official. Five more bodies have been found in Coscomatepec. Landslides in Mexico have swept away two homes and killed eight people, local authorities said. According to the emergency officials, other two people have been rescued alive from the landslide site in Veracruz state. Landslides hit the town of Manzanatitla late Monday, located about 320 kilometers east of Mexico City. Peru snowstorm kills 6, emergency declared

Snowstorms in Peru have claimed lives of at least six people, local medias reported. More than 30,000 domestic animals including sheep, llamas and alpacas have also been killed. According to Peru This Week, around 12,000 families have been stranded due to snowstorm in Puno in Carabaya province of Peru. A state of emergency has been declared for much of the snowstorms region, located in the Andes mountains. Snowstorms have also affected the people in Bolivia and Paraguay. Mali floods: 24 killed in capital Bamako

Flash floods in Mali's capital Bamako have claimed lives of at least 24 people, Internal Security and Civilian protection Minister said in a statement. At least nineteen people have died in Taliko alone. Bankoni, Taliko, Lafiabougou, Djicoroni Woyowayanko, Lafiabougou Bougouba and Bougoudani areas have been hit by floods. Looking Mali natural disaster statistics (from 1980-2010; Prevention Web), around 110 people have died in Mali due to natural calamities every year. Mali is a landlocked country in West Africa. Laos landslides kill 16

Landslides in Laos have claimed lives of at least sixteen people and washed away 38 houses, local authorities said. Landslides caused by two days of heavy rain buried several houses in Pakbaeng district, Oudomxay province of Laos. Fatalities are from Phearhuanam village of Pakbaeng district. According to the Children’s charity Plan International, more than 1,700 people have been affected by Laos landslides. Several areas in Pakbaeng district are currently without power and telephone connections. Laos claims to have effective disaster preparedness committees set up at village level and district level. Worst flooding in 3 decades in China’s Heilongjiang Province claims 11

Worst flooding in three decades in Heilongjiang Province of China has claimed lives of at least 11 people and left 3 others missing, Xinhua reported. Flooding has destroyed more than 1 million hectares of farmland and affected two millions people. The Heilongjiang flooding has caused direct economic losses of over 7 billion yuan, the provincial civil affairs department said. Yemen flood sweeps away 76

Update According to the State media, 27 people are confirmed dead and 41 are still missing. Others eight people have been rescued. At least 76 people, mostly women and children, have been swept away by flood waters in southern Yemen. Flood waters swept away three vehicles going to Wadi Nakhla, a valley between Taiz and Ibb provinces of Yemen. Recent floods in Yemen's capital Sanaa closed several roads and trapped some cars. Death toll from Cambodia floods have risen to nine, National Committee for Disaster Management (NCDM) said today. Banteay Meanchey, Preah Vihear, Kampong Thom and Kratie provinces are reported to be worst hit by floods. Cambodia floods have affected some 5,300 families and evacuated about 450 families, Xinhua said. Earlier there was report of seven fatalities from Cambodia floods . Jammu and Kashmir floods claim 10 lives

Jammu and Kashmir floods have claimed lives of at least ten people including four children. Others 50 were rescued whereas 17 are still reported to be trapped in Jammu and Samba districts, Free Press Kashmir reported. Flash flood washed away a newly married couple in Gool area of Ramban district of India. They were returning their home in Sangaldan from Mahore area. A landslide near Panthal in Ramban district injured two Army men. They are having treatment at Military Hospital in Srinagar, Great Kashmir said. Floods also washed away several bridges over Nallah Sindh in Kangan district. Weather is expected to improve from Thursday, The Meteorological Department said. 8 killed as boat capsizes in Pakistan floodwater

At least eight people including two children have drowned as boat capsizes in floodwater in Pakistan, local news reported. Two other people managed to swim to safety. Boat carrying ten people was on a fishing trip. Incident took place at Ebrahim Shah village in the Tando Allah Yar town in Sindh province of Pakistan. Kerala landslide kills 9, emergency cabinet meeting called

Landslide triggered by heavy downpour in Kerala, India has claimed lives of at least nine people, local medias reported. An emergency cabinet meeting has been called by the CM to review the situation and start the disaster relief operations. Afghanistan Flood 2013 kills 69, National Disaster Management says

Heavy rains and flooding in Afghanistan have claimed lives of sixty nine people over the weekend, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said today. Floods have destroyed hundreds of houses and injured 11 others. Floods hit nine eastern and southeastern provinces of Afghanistan including Kabul, Ghazni, Wardak, Kapisa and Khost provinces, deputy to country's National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Mohammad Aslam Sayad told Xinhua News. Maharashtra Flood 2013: At least 20 killed in Chandrapur flooding

Recent floods in Chandrapur district in Maharashtra, India have claimed lives of at least 20 people. Maharashtra Flood has displaced around 3,000 people in Chandrapur district alone, NDTV reported. More than 15,000 houses have been damaged in six districts of east Vidarbha, including Chandrapur.  Flood victims pelted stones at Maharashtra minister's car on Sunday demanding speedy disaster relief materials. According to the IBNLive, more than 50 % of crops have been destroyed in around 1.50 lakh hectares of farm land in the district.  National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team is continuously engaged in flood relief work. Sudan flooding kills 10

Recent flooding in Sudan has claimed lives of at least ten people, local medias reported. People of Khartoum, Red Sea, Sinnar and North and South Darfur have been affected by floods. Sudan flooding has also blocked road between Khartoum and the Red sea, Africa Review reported. An emergency situation has been called by North Darfur local government. Flooding in North Darfur state has left around 2,000 families homeless and flooded El Fasher hospital. Sudan Meteorological Authority has predicted heavy rain till next week in all parts of the country. The 2007 Sudan flooding had claimed lives of at least 64 people.
