Recent Natural Disasters
  • Landslide in Taplejung, Nepal
    -
    At least seven people have died and four other are missing in a landslide tragedy in Taplejung region of eastern Nepal. Six people among the dead are members of the same family.
    -Landslide occurred in a remote village of Thukimba-6 of Taplejung district.

  • M 5.2 moderate earthquake in Greece (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located 5 km SW of Koroni. Light to weak shaking will ave felt by the people of Kalamata, Sparta and Tripolis.11:53 UTC (local time 2013-06-06; 14:53 @ epicenter)
  • M 4.5 moderate earthquake in Chile (@ 30 km depth) with epicenter located 30 km NNW of Vina del Mar. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Valparaiso, Quilpue, Quillota and Santiago.

  • M 5.0 moderate earthquake in Japan (@ 40 km depth) with epicenter located 11 km ESE of Togane. People of Naruto, Oami, Mobara an Tokyo will have felt light shaking of MMI IV.

  • M 3.3 weak shallow earthquake in Monatana (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located 32 km WNW of West Yellowstone. People of Bozeman, Rexburg, Helena and Ammon (Idaho) will have felt just a weak shaking of MMI III.

  • M 3.6 light earthquake in Hawaii (@ 38 km depth) with epicenter located 46 km WSW of Kailua-Kona. People of Kihei, Hilo and Wailuku will have weak shaking of MMI III.

  • Tropical Storm Andrea
    -
    As of 12:00 UTC, TS Andrea was located 180 km W of Tampa, Florida.
    -The center of Andrea is expected to make landfall late Thursday on the Florida Panhandle. Andrea is predicted to bring 3 to 6 inches of rain over much of Florida and southeastern Georgia.
    -Andrea is the first named storm of the 2013 Atlantic hurricane season. Andrea is however not forecast to strengthen into a hurricane. Click for detail report on Andrea.
