Heavy rainfall has caused massive flooding in Mahakali river. The District Administration Office (DAO) has declared a flood emergency in the area. The bridge over the Mahakali River is currently closed and a red flag has been placed to indicate the sign of danger in the Mahakali bridge. Similarly flooding in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh region of India has claimed lives of hundreds of people.

Nepal Government has allocated Rs. 500 million for the reconstruction of physical infrastructure including roads, and drinking water projects in the flooded areas. Similarly the goverment has also decided to provide Rs. 35,000 as a relief to the each displaced family.

-A high-level team including Chairman of Election Council Khil Raj is going for inspection of flood affected areas today. Team will have aerial view of Darchula , Kanchanpur and Kailali districts.
-Flood victims have refused to accept the relief package sent by government. They protest pointing goverment for not providing detail report of flood damage and not being able to provide relief materials on time.
-Another landslide in Palpa has claimed lives of three members of a single family.

-A Fishtail Air chopper has crashed on the banks of the Karnali River in Humla district.
-One killed and five others reported to be injured. The team was sent for rescue of people affected by landslides in Muchu-9 in Hilsa village.

-The Nepal Government has announced a relief package for the flood and landslides victims. Flood relief package was announced during an emergency cabinet meeting with ministers of concerned ministries and other stakeholders related to disaster management and preparedness.
-Rs 100 million fund will carry essential materials and emergency aid to affected people. Similarly the flood and landslide relief fund under the Prime Minister has also been increased to Rs 400 million from Rs 190 million.
-Government has reported 18 deaths with more than 25 missing.

-Now death toll from landslides across Nepal has risen to 25. Landslides have claimed lives of another 12 people and injured two others at Mumra VDC in Kalikot district.
-Foods have also swept away one wooden bridge and a suspension bridge in Kalikot.
-Teams of the Nepal Army and Nepal Police have been deployed to the incident site for the rescue work, The Himalayan Times reported.
-In another landslide in Solukhumbu district, at least 10 households have been displaced.

-The government has decided to release Rs.5million each for the rescue and relief of flood victims in Darchula and Kanchanpur districts.
-Rescue workers will also carry necessary medicines, drinking water, clothes and relief materials through the Health and Population Office, Urban Development Office and the Red Cross Society.
-Water flow rate in Karnali is measured at 18,460 cusec which is the highest water flow in 100 years.

-Landslide hit Malika VDC-2 of Dailekh district and killed seven members of a single family. Three of them are children below age 7.
-Another landslide disaster in Baitadi has claimed lives of five of a single family.
-The Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) said local administrations, security personnel and rescue team to stay on high alert in the disaster area.

-According to Darchula District Police Office, Mahakali river has washed away 14 houses, four temples, three government offices and 17 huts.
-Hundreds of schools in Bhairahawa, Butwal and Palpa are closed due to bad weather.
-Huge traffic jams are reported along the East-West Mahendra Highway and Siddhartha Highway.

Massive flooding in the Mahakali River wreaked havoc in Khalanga, the district headquarters of Darchula making 53 families homeless.
At least two women have gone missing after floods swept away 45 houses and five government buildings. More than 20 houses were swept away in Dharchula bazaar.
Following Darchula Police Office, Majakali washed away more than 30 houses at Bangabagad and Renganetal, six houses at Galfai and an education resource centre at Titarsain.
A powerhouse of Kalagada Micro Hydro Project at Bramhadev VDC has also been washed away, The Himalayan Times reported.

Twenty-three sand miners stranded along Mahakali river were rescued by locals in Piparaiya of Kanchanpur.
Local administration has already ordered people living along the banks of Majakali river in Darchula to evacuate as there are no embankments along the river.

At least 50 police personnel from District Police Office and 50 Nepal Army personnel are involved in flood relief and rescue work.
Water level in the Mahakali river recorded has been at 138,300 cusec on Thursday which is the highest level so far this year.
India has opened the gates of Mahakali barrage to minimise the flood risk. The bridge over the Mahakali River is currently closed and a red flag has been placed to indicate the sign of danger in the Mahakali bridge.
