Heavy rainfall has caused devastating floods and landslides across North India, especially in the states of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. The Army, ITBP, Border Security Force (BSF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Public Works department and local administration are currently engaged in rescue operations. Similarly heavy rainfall has caused massive flooding in Mahakali river in Nepal. The District Administration Office (DAO) has declared a flood emergency in the area. The bridge over the Mahakali River is currently closed and a red flag has been placed to indicate the sign of danger in the Mahakali bridge. Updates below

-According to Home Minister Sushil Kumar, death toll from Uttarakhand flood has risen to 207. About 34,000 people have been rescued but 50,000 people are still stranded. Out of this, about 9,000 people are stranded in Kedarnath and Badrinath.
-Approximately 400 Nepali pilgrims are currently trapped at Badrikedar. At least 29 Nepalese have been airlifted to Rishikesh by the Indian government.

-Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi will visit flood-hit Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh today.
According to Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, the Prime Minister and Congress chief will be going to do an aerial survey of Kedarnath in the afternoon.
-The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a Rs 25 crore (USD 4.2 million) financial aid to disaster area.

Massive flooding and landslides have claimed lives of 131 people in Uttarkhand and Himachal Pradesh, The Times of India reported.
The death toll from Uttarakhand flood alone has reached 102 with worst in Rudraprayag. About 20 people died in Rudraprayag district and 500 people are still reported to be missing. Flood washed away 73 buildings, including 40 hotels.
Following Army Central Command officials, around 6,000 to 8,000 people are stranded in Kedarnath, 2,500 in Hemkund Sahib and around 8,000 in Badrinath.
Floods affect 3 crore Indians every year.

Himachal Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh was also stranded in Kinnaur district for nearly 60 hours due to landslides. He was later rescued by a chopper hired by his Congress party.
More than a dozen helicopters have been deployed in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh for flood relief and rescue operations. Food, medicines and blankets have been air-dropped in remote areas of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.
Similarly the Delhi government has also started evacuating people from low-lying areas along the banks of the Yamuna.

Please Please Please underline that environment and natural catastrophes is no more a local problem it is global problem that needs to be understood from deeper level deduced to energy and matter ratio and earth's struggle to maintain certain equilibrium.
ReplyDeleteWhen huge disaster by flood/snow, fire, earthquakes, occurs there is huge cry in media, leader make statements, and then everyone forgets, leaving the people to suffer and recover and as usual they go about exploiting nature. The fact of the matter is that earth is becoming fragile under human greed and reckless exploitation of nature. There are lots of scientific data in this regard. It is proven that earth's magnetic pole is shifting at a huge pace and its shied is deteriorating. From a simple understanding of earth's "Design and Principle" I had been writing to leaders of nations, temples of science, media and in social media for many many years pointing to the fact that we are tending to great destruction from forces of Mother Nature. It is common sense when a system is heated uniformly it breaks down. From the days of industrial era we have been exponentially increasing the heat of the environment. We have been recklessly destroying the greenery and with globalization we have recklessly intruded into the night cycle in which Earth works to convert heat into matter and thus tries to balance the system. Earth is non-linear system that is being pushed to its critical limit and she is reacting violently - if we do not awaken now, destruction coming our way would be unimaginable. Simple realization of "principle and design" and functioning of earth and a global action to control the energy of the environment can alleviate Mother Earth - some media please bring this to the world and awaken the leaders of nations - People reading this you could be next at the receiving end - please viral this to awaken - Knowledge is the only way to survive
