Update
-Earthquake in Banda Aceh, Indonesia killed an eight-year-old girl.
-Earthquake injured 15 others. Most of them injured due to collapsing walls.
-Following Indonesia disaster management agency, earthquake also damaged 50 houses in the district (Photo: A village near the coast of Sumatra after the Tsunami in 2004; Wikipedia).

M 5.9 strong earthquake shakes Northern Sumatra, Indonesia today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located 34 km SSW of Reuleuet, Indonesia. It was 10.3 miles deep.


Following USGS Pager Map, light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Sigli, Reuleuet, Bireun, Meulaboh, Lhokseumawe, Banda Aceh, Takengon, Langsa and Sabang.

The Indonesian Meteorology, Geophysics and Climatology Agency (BMKG) hasn't issued tsunami alert.

M 8.7 massive earthquake in west coast of Northern Sumatra, Indonesia in 2012 killed several people.
More than 31,000 people were killed in Banda Aceh alone in 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
