  • Flooding in Mozambique
    -Mozambique officials have started evacuating 55,000 people from flood disaster zone.
    -The south and the centre of Mozambique have been placed under red alert.
    -High water levels in the Limpopo and Inkomati rivers is predicted to flood the town of Chokwe.
    -Emergency disaster preparedness teams are already in place and motorboats have been dispatched to the area to move people to safe ground.
    -Floods in Mozambique and northern parts of South Africa have killed at least 20 people over the past week.

  • M 4.7 moderate earthquake Offshore Nayarit, Mexico (@ 56 km depth) with epicenter located 84 km WNW of Bucerias. People of Puerto Vallarta, Ixtapa, Las Varas,Bahía de Banderas, Compostela and Puebla will have felt weak shaking of MMI III.

  • M 5.2 moderate earthquake in Hindu Kush Region, Afghanistan (@ 52 km depth) with epicenter located 24 km NNE of Baghlan. Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Nahrin, Pul-e Khumri, Kunduz, Khanabad and Pol-e Khomri. People of Baghrami, Jalalabad, Kabul and Mazar-e Sharif will have felt weak shaking of MMI III.

  • M 4.8 moderate earthquake in Western Iran (@ 50 km depth) with epicenter located 21 km SE from Khorramabad. Weak tremor will have felt as far as Dezful, Arak and Tehran.

  • M 4.7 moderate earthquake in Kyrgyzstan (@ 57 km depth) with epicenter located 32 km SSW of Sary-Tash. People of Osh, Kyzyl-Kyya and Marhamat (Uzbekistan) will have felt weak shaking of MMI III.

  • M 3.4 weak earthquake hits Assaluyeh, Iran.


Recent Flash Floods
Ongoing Major River Floods (Based on Satellite observation): Afghanistan (Amu Darya), Australia (Darling), Bolivia (Madre de Dios), Brazil (Tocantins), Chad (N Djamena), China (Mekong and Huang He), Democratic Republic of the Congo (Ubangi), Dominican Republic, Honduras, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq (Shatt al Arab and Tigris), Kenya (Tana), Philippines, Sudan (Blue Nile, White Nile), Syria (Euphrates), Tanzania.
  • Flooding in Mapungubwe, South Africa
    -Recent natural disaster flood in Mapungubwe has caused the temporary closure of the Mapungubwe National Park and World Heritage (MNP& WH) site.
    -Police rescued four people while two are still missing in Nkomazi floods.
    -Road from Musina to Mapungubwe National Park has been closed.
    -Floods also closed Beitbridge border post between Zimbabwe and South Africa.


Recent Volcanic Activity
Erupting Volcanoes: Fuego, Santiago, Poas, Reventador, Nyiragongo, Ol Doniyo Lengai, Raung, Erta Ale, Paluweh, Gamalama, Batu Tara, Sakurajima, Manam, Ulawun, Tolbachik and Kilauea volcano.
  • Volcanoes erupt in Kamchatka Peninsula
    -Three volcanoes in  Russia’s Kamchatka, Shiveluch, Kizimen and Plosky Talbachek have been continuously sending steam and ash into the air.
    -Ash and gas plumes from Shiveluch reached up nearly 5 kilometers into the air.
    -An orange security level has been issued in the region.


Recent Tropical Cyclones
  • Tropical Cyclone Oswald
    -As of 12:00 UTC, TC Oswald was located 155 nm east-northeast of Mornington Island, Australia.
    -The Department of Fire and Emergency Services has issued a blue alert and  natural disaster warning has been issued for communities between De Grey and Mardie including Port Hedland, South Hedland, Whim Creek, Roebourne, Wickham, Point Samson, Karratha and Dampier.
    -A cyclone watch has also been issued for the people from Mardie to Onslow.
  • Tropical Cyclone Garry
    -As of 12:00 UTC, TC Garry was located 85 nm northeast of Pago Pago, American Samoa.
    -Storm and strong wind warnings remain in place for Samoa.

  • Sea wave in Cebu, Philippines
    -Sea wave hit a boat off the seas of Caubian Island in Lapu-Lapu City.
    -Fishermen in two boats rescued at least 15 persons from the disaster area.
  • Avalanche in Himachal Pradesh, India
    -Avalanche disaster in hamlet (Sangla valley) in Himachal Pradesh killed 35 yaks.
    -Heavy snowfall hit Sangla Valley in Kinnaur district last week.
