- Strong earthquake in Iran
-Magnitude 5.6 strong earthquake in Iran killed eight people. Other 12 Iranians are reported to be injured.
-Following Fars news agency, Several people are still left trapped under rubble in villages across the district of Zohan in South Khorasan province.
-The epicentre (@ 5 km depth) was 42 km from the town of Qayen and 79 km NNE of populated area Birjand.
-15 rescue teams of Iran Red Crescent Society are on the earthquake disaster area.
-2003 Bam earthquake killed more than 25,000 people. More than 300 people were killed this August in earthquake in north-western Iran.

- M 3.4 light earthquake Offshore Northern California (@ 19 km depth) with epicenter located 24 km W from Petrolia. It will have well felt by the people of Ferndale, Rio Dell and Eureka.
19:00 UTC (local time Wednesday, December 05, 2012 at 11:00 AM @ epicenter) - M 4.6 moderate earthquake in Atacama, Chile (@ 72 km depth) with epicenter located 70 km E of Vallenar. People of Copiapo, Vicuna and La Serena will have felt just a weak shaking of MMI II-III.
16:25 UTC (local time Wednesday, December 05, 2012 at 01:25 PM @ epicenter) - M 4.5 moderate shallow earthquake in Southern Yukon Territory, Canada (@ 5 km depth) with epicenter located 171 km (106 miles) NNE of Mayo. Just a weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of Whitehorse and Mayo.

-274 dead and hundreds more are missing in Philippines typhoon Bopha.
-A total of 253 people died in and around the towns of New Bataan and Monkayo. Twenty-one people were killed in other parts of the southern island of Mindanao and the central islands.
-About 178,000 people are living in the evacuation centers.
-Philippines typhoon Washi in 2011 killed 1200 people.
