  • Typhoon in Philippines
    -Philippines typhoon Bopha killed 40 people. More than 30 people were killed in Compostela Valley.
    -Massive flooding killed several people in Andap village in New Bataan town in Compostela Valley.
    -Flooding caused by Palau Typhoon Bopha (Pablo) swept away the truck which was carrying 30 soldiers and 20 civilians.
    -A total of 145 flights to and from Mindanao and the central islands are grounded due to impact of Philippines Typhoon Bopha.
    -More than 41,000 people are living in 1,000 government shelters across Mindanao by early Today (Tuesday).
    -At least four provinces in the southeast - Davao, Surigao, Agusan and Compostela Valley - are without power.
    -Following PAGASA, Typhoon Pablo has headed for the Sulu Sea late Tuesday afternoon and predicted to hit the central tourist islands of Bohol, Cebu and Negros (Photo: Typhoon Bopha made landfall in Mindanao, Philippines; AFP).

    Death toll from Typhoon Bopha has risen to 274. A total of 253 people died in and around the towns of New Bataan and Monkayo. Twenty-one people were killed in other parts of the southern island of Mindanao and the central islands.
    Update
    -Death toll has now risen to 81. Several people were killed in different parts of the southern region due to floods, strong wind and mudslides.
    -At least 42 people were swept away by flash floods in New Bataan town, Compostela Valley and other 29 people were killed in the province of Davao Oriental, due to flash floods and strong wind. Remaining fatalities are from Surigao and Agusan del Sur area.
    Update
    -Death toll from Typhoon Bopha has risen to 52. Following ABS-CBN television, at least 43 people killed in the southern town disaster only. An army truck laden with soldiers and civilians was swept away in a flash flood.

  • M 3.9 light shallow earthquake in Colorado (@ 6 km depth) with epicenter located 40 km WSW of Trinidad. Weak tremor will have felt around epicenter area.

  • M 2.3 minor earthquake in Maine with epicenter located 6 kilometers south of Lake Arrowhead near the town of Waterboro.
  • M 4.6 moderate earthquake Offshore Valparaiso, Chile (@ 46 km depth) with epicenter located 30 km NNW of Valparaiso. Just a weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of Vina del Mar, Quilpue and Villa Alemana.

  • M 4.5 moderate deep earthquake in Central Peru (@ 150 km depth) with epicenter located 58 km SSE of Pucallpa. Tingo Maria, Contamana and Huanuco will have felt weak shaking of MMI II.

  • M 5.8 strong earthquake in Southern Alaska (@ 53 km depth) with epicenter located 51 km W from Anchorage. Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Beluga, Tyonek, Susitna, Anchorage, Fort Richardson, Elmendorf AFB, Indian, Chugiak, Eagle River, Kenai, Wasilla, Sterling and Willow. People of Anchor Point, Cooper Landing, Copper Center, Cordova, Girdwood, Homer, Kodiak, Moose Pass, Ninilchik, Palmer, Port Alsworth, Seward, Soldotna, Talkeetna, Valdez, Fairbanks and Cantwell will have felt weak shaking of MMI II-III.

Ongoing Major River Floods (Based on Satellite observation): Afghanistan (Amu Darya), Australia (Darling), Brazil (Rio Paranaiba, Juruena, Purus and Tocantins), Chad (N Djamena), China (Mekong and Huang He), Colombia (Putamayo and Rio Negro), Democratic Republic of the Congo (Ubangi), Guatemala, Indonesia, Iraq (Euphrates and Tigris), Kenya (Bohoni and Turo), Malaysia, Nigeria, Philippines, Sudan (Blue Nile), Taiwan, Tanzania (Mwanza Shinyango road), Uganda (White Nile) and United States (Rio Grande, North America).
  • Flash floods in Perak, Malaysia
    -Around 50 people evacuated due to flooding in the Kuala Kangsar district in Kampung Bendang Ujib, Kampung Kuala Terap, Kampung Padang Lalang and Kampong Berala.
    -Evacuated people are living in relief center in Kati Community Hall and Kampung Terap Community Hall.
    -Sungai Muar, in Rompin Town, Gemas in Negeri Sembilan exceeded the danger level (35 meter +).

    -Typhoon Bopha made landfall in Mindanao, Philippines.
    -Philippines typhoon Bopha killed 40 people. More than 30 people were killed in Compostela Valley.
