Recent Natural Disasters
  • Tornado in Auckland, New Zealand
    -Three killed in tornadoes in Auckland, New Zealand. Around 7 people are having treatment at Auckland and North Shore hospitals.
    -Tornado in Auckland destroyed more than 150 houses.
    -Auckland tornado caused heavy damage across west Auckland and North Shore.
    -Severe surface flooding also reported right across Auckland region.
    -Several roads across SH 18, Wallingford Way and Greenhithe Rd in Hobsonville, Waimarie Rd in Whenuapai and Moselle Ave in Henderson closed due to tornado damage.

  • M 4.9 moderate shallow earthquake in Southern Greece (@ 13 km depth) with epicenter located 24 km NE of Sykea. People of Sparta, Nafplio, Argos and Korythio will have felt weak shaking of MMI II-III.

  • M 3.6 light shallow earthquake in Southern Alaska (@ 11 km depth) with epicenter located 24 km S from Chickaloon. Just a weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of Sutton-Alpine, Knik River, Palmer and Anchorage.

  • M 4.5 moderate earthquake near the East Coast of Honshu, Japan (@ 68 km depth) with epicenter located 13 km E of Funaishikawa. It will have well felt by the people of Hitachi, Hitachi-Naka, Katsuta, Inashiki-shi, Tokai-mura, Mito, Tsukuba, Utsunomiya and Tokyo.

  • M 4.5 moderate earthquake in Flores Region, Indonesia (@ 44 km depth) with epicenter located just 5 km ESE of Ruis. People of Ruteng, Labuhanbajo and Ende will have felt weak shaking of MMI II-III.

  • M 5.4 moderate earthquake in Philippine Islands region (@ 28 km depth) with epicenter located 84 km E of Sulangan. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Guiuan, Borongan, Dulag, Palo and  Tacloban.

  • Flooding in Oregon, USA
    -High water in the Yaquina River flooded the road in west of Eddyville in Lincoln County.

Erupting Volcanoes: Propocatepetl, Fuego, Reventador, Villarrica, Stromboli, Nyiragongo, Ol Doniyo Lengai, Erta Ale, Marapi, Semeru, Paluweh, Gamalama, Lokon-Empung, Sakurajima, Ulawun, Yasur, Ambrym, Kizimen, Shiveluch and Kilauea volcano.

  • Tropical Storm Bopha
    -As of 12:00 UTC, TS Bopha was located 295 nm west-southwest of Manila, Philippines.
    -Philippines typhoon Bopha has killed 274 people.
  • Tropical Cyclone Three
    -As of 12:00 UTC, TC Three was located 385 nm southeast of Diego Garcia.
