Mudslide in Pokhara, Nepal kills four

December 01, 2019: A mudslide in Pokhara has claimed lives of four persons and left one other missing. The four deceased have been identified as the residents of Pedikhola, Bagchaur Municipality-4 of Salyan district. The mudslide occurred at the time the workers were constructing sewage channels alongside the Bhalam-Mauja rural road section.

Mudslide in Montecito, Southern California kills 20

January 12, 2018: A series of mudslides in Southern California have claimed lives of at least 20 people and injured 28 others, particularly affecting areas northwest of Los Angeles in Santa Barbara County. The mudslide disaster occurred on January 9th early morning at Montecito and other areas of Santa Barbara County.

Mud collapse in Sarlahi, Nepal kills 4

April 30, 2017: At least four people died and three others injured after a mud collapse on the bank of Banke River in Sarlahi district of Nepal. The local police have identified the victims as Rammati Mahato, Pabita Devi Mahato, Abhisekh Mahato and Anshu Kumari Mahato including two children.

Colombia Mudslide: 254 dead, 400 injured in Mocoa

April 3, 2017: Flash flooding and landslides triggered by heavy rainfall in the city of Mocoa, Putumayo, Colombia have claimed lives of at least 254 people and injured more than 400 people. President Juan Manuel Santos has declared a state of emergency in the region. More than 1,000 emergency personnel, including soldiers and local police have been deployed to help the rescue efforts.

Six children killed in mud collapse in Kailali, Nepal

Mud Collapse in Kailali, Nepal (Indu Kc Facebook photo) Six children were killed in a mud collapse in Kailali district of Nepal on Friday. Disaster occurred when the children were collecting red clay to scrub their house walls and floors for the coming festival. At least two women also got injured at the site. All deceived have been confirmed as the children of Kattipur of Dododhara village.

Mudslide, flood in Mombasa, Kenya kill 2

Mudslide and Flooding in Mimbosa, Kenya have claimed lives of two people, left several missing and made many others homeless. Heavy rainfall triggered mudslides hit a house and buried a person in Kalahari slums in Changamwe. Flooded River Kivunga swepy away a girl in Kilifi, Standard Media reported.

Yunnan landslides leave 6 dead, 17 missing

Landslides in Yunnan Province of China have claimed lives of at least six people and left 17 others missing, Xinhua News Agency reported. Landslide at around 2 a.m. in Minzhu Village, Yunlong County, killed six people. Another landslide struck a silicon mining site in Shawa Village, Fugong County and left 17 others missing. They are expected to swept into the Nujiang River, which is about 500 meters from the site. Around 61 people in Yunnan have been killed or were missing due to disasters brought by heavy rain as of June 30, Xinhua mentioned quoting the provincial meteorological bureau. 3 missing in massive mudslide in western Colorado

At least three people have been missing in the massive mudslide that struck near the small mountain town of Colbran at around 6:15 p.m. local time Sunday. The three missing men have been identified as Clancy Nichols, his son Danny Nichols, and Wes Hawkins, USA Today reported. The area is part of the Piceance Basin, one of Colorado's largest natural gas producing areas.  The western Colorado mudslide is estimated to be 2 miles wide, 4 miles long and up to 250 feet deep in places, The Weather Channel has mentioned quoting the Mesa County Sheriff's Department.   Original post: Natural Disasters List May 27, 2014

Oso mudslide kills 24, leaves 22 missing

Update 2014/04/01 According to the Washington governor, Jay Inslee, the Oso mudslide has claimed lives of at least 24 people and caused financial losses of $10 million. The number of people missing has been lowered to 22.   Update 2014/03/27 Death toll from Oso mudslide has risen to 20. The number of missing people has dropped to 90. Update 2014/01/27 Death toll from mudslide in Catamarca has risen to 12 with 25 still missing, The Catamarca Emergency Committee said. Heavy rainfall caused mudslides in  El Rodeo and Siján areas. Five women and three children are still reported to be missing. More than 200 people have been living in the evacuation shelters. Mudslide traps 20 in Cross Rivers, Nigeria

A mudslide at Obudu Mountain Resort in Obanliku Local Government Area of Cross River State has trapped at least 20 people, local medias reported. Team of NEMA, SEMA and the Nigerian Air Force have been involved in rescue opertations. The Nigerian Air Force Augusta 109 from 305 Flying Training School Enugu, Super Puma, and MI 24 helicopters have also joined the rescue operations, Channel TV reported. Mudslide in southern Russia kills 7: Emergency Situations Department

Mudslide in southern Russia has claimed lives of at least seven people, Emergency Situations Department said today. Heavy rainfall triggered mudslide in Derbent, a city in the North Caucasus republic of Dagestan. Around 300 houses have been flooded in the region. Flood, fire and mudslide in Idaho

Strong storms have caused mudslides, house fire and floods in Idaho. Mudslide in Idaho has closed roads from Garden Valley to Smith’s Ferry Drive. Heavy rainfall caused mudslide at about 7 p.m. Flash flooding has been reported in Oakley. Lightning also caused fire in a house in Eagle. No injuries have been reported.
