Mudslide in Montecito, Southern California kills 20

January 12, 2018: A series of mudslides in Southern California have claimed lives of at least 20 people and injured 28 others, particularly affecting areas northwest of Los Angeles in Santa Barbara County.

The mudslide disaster occurred on January 9th early morning at Montecito and other areas of Santa Barbara County.

Five people have been missing, mostly in the Montecito area. The mudflows destroyed over 100 homes and damaged an additional 300, according to The Los Angeles Times.
