Landslide in China's Jiangxi Province kills 3

Landslide in east China's Jiangxi Province over the past five days has claimed lives of three people. Two people died in a landslide at the entrance of a tunnel on the Daqing-Guangzhou expressway in Longnan County, another person was killed in another landslide in Ganzhou city, Xinhua News Agency reported quoting the provincial civil affairs department.

Scientists discover rare doline in south China

Scientists from China and France have discovered a rare huge doline, or sinkhole, in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of South China . Scientists have discovered number of dolines in Donglan County in last nine days. Dolines found in Guangxi are normally around 250 meters deep, Xinhua News Agency reported.

Landslide in Shenzhen's Hengtaiyu Industrial Park leaves 91 missing

The landslide site of an industrial park in Shenzhen, south China's Guangdong Province (Xinhua) Massive landslide in Shenzhen's Hengtaiyu Industrial Park of China has left 91 missing, including 59 males and 32 females as of early Monday morning, Chinese state media reported. Beijing Smog 2015 prompts red alert for first time in history

The traffic in smog in Shijingshan District of Beijing, captial of China (Xinhua/Li Xin) Beijing's city government issued its first red alert for smog on Tuesday warning severe air pollution would affect the Chinese capital for several days. According to Xinhua News Agency , Beijing upgraded its alert for air pollution from orange to red, which will last from 7:00 a.m. Tuesday to 12:00 p.m. Thursday. According to the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, the air quality index stood at 250 Tuesday morning, classed as "very unhealthy" and 10 times higher than the World Health Organization's recommended levels, CNN reported. According to the city's emergency management headquarters, during a red alert, kindergartens, primary and high schools are advised to suspend classes, outdoor operations of construction sites are banned and some industrial plants are required to limit or stop production. Rescue operation at landslide disaster site in east China's Zhejiang Province (Reuters) Landslide in east China's Zhejiang Province has claimed lives of at least 38 people, the state-run Xinhua news agency reported. More than 2,300 rescuers, along with seven sniffer dogs, 60 machines and more than 80 vehicles, are helping with rescue work at natural disaster site.

Typhoon Swan keeps Eastern China on high alert

Eastern China provinces have been kept on high alert for approaching typhoon Swan that may bring gales and rainstorms on Sunday night. The Fujian Provincial Meteorological Station has issued a yellow alert for the typhoon. Swan is expected to arrive at the East China Sea on Sunday evening, Xinhua News Agency reported.

At least three people died and eight people remained missing in a landslide in Yunnan Province of China.  According to the Xinhua News Agency , landslide disaster hit at about 7 p.m. on Saturday evening which buried a road in Funing County in Yunnan province. Typhoon Soudelor kills 28 in China and Taiwan

Typhoon Soudelor has claimed lives of at least 28 people and left several more missing as it battered Taiwan and China over the weekend. According to China National Commission for Disaster Reduction, atleast 21 people died by typhoon-related impact in China. Fatalities are from Zhejiang, Fujian, Anhui and Jiangxi provinces of China. Chinese authorities have issued a grade-IV emergency response to Typhoon Soudelor in east China's Zhejiang Province on Sunday, Xinhua reported. Last week, Typhoon Soudelor hammered the island of Saipan in the Western Pacific ocean leaving trails of widespread damage. President Obama declared the Northern Mariana Island, including Saipan, under a State of Disaster on Thursday.

Super typhoon Chan-Hom prompts HIGHEST ALERT in China - More than 1 million evacuated

Source: China Meteorological Administration Super typhoon Chan-Hom made landfall on Saturday afternoon in east China's Zhejiang province, causing evacuation of more than 1 million people. On Friday morning, China's Meteorological Center had raised "red warning of typhoon" for Zhejiang and Fujian province. At 9:00 a.m. on July 10, China Meteorological Administration (CMA) had also elevated emergency response to level I, the highest level  to address super typhoon Chan-Hom.

Flash flood in Golog, Tibet kills 2

Flash flood triggered by heavy rainfall in Tibet’s Chigdril County in Golog region has claimed lives of at least two person. Flash flooding killed a woman and her elder son and injured her husband and their younger son, Phayul quoted Dhamchoe Palsang, a Tibetan living who told the Tibet Times . Injured people are having treatment in a hospital in the Chigdril County.

SW China landslide leaves 1 missing

A massive landslide on the northern bank of the Daning River in Wushan County of Chongqing Municipality, southwest China has left one missing and injured four others. The landslide disaster occurred at 6:40 p.m. on Wednesday evening, Xinhua reported.

Yangtze river cyclone engulfs Chinese ferry with 458 aboard

A passenger ship carrying 458 people sank in a cyclone in the Jianli section in Hubei Province of the Yangtze River Monday night. Chinese President Xi Jinping has ordered all-out rescue efforts, sank at around 9:30 p.m. after being caught in a cyclone , state broadcaster CCTV reported citing the Yangtze River navigation administration.

Rainfall induced natural disasters in China kill 16

Rainfall induced natural disaster in southern parts of China last week have claimed lives of 16 people as of Monday morning. According to the Ministry of Civil Affairs (MCA), on May 25 to 27 and 28 to 31, two heavy rainfalls occurred in the southern part of China, leading to casualties in Fujian, Jiangxi, Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong, Chongqing, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan and other provincial regions, Xinhua reported.

Rainfall kills 7 in China's Fujian Province

Heavy rainfall in east China's Fujian Province has left seven dead, one missing and affected 242,000 people. Heavy rains have destroyed 2,490 houses and damaged 21,300 hectares of farm produce, Xinhu a has written quoting the provincial drought and flood prevention office.

Coal mine flooding in China's Shanxi province kills 19

Nineteen people are confirmed dead in coal mine flooding in Jiangjiawan Mine in Datong City, Shanxi Province of China. A total of 247 people were working in Jiangjiawan Mine in Datong City when the disaster occurred around 6:50 p.m. on Sunday. Two hundred and twenty-three miners made it out safely, while 24 were trapped, Xinhua reported.
