Rainfall induced natural disaster in southern parts of China last week have claimed lives of 16 people as of Monday morning.
According to the Ministry of Civil Affairs (MCA), on May 25 to 27 and 28 to 31, two heavy rainfalls occurred in the southern part of China, leading to casualties in Fujian, Jiangxi, Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong, Chongqing, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan and other provincial regions, Xinhua reported.
Heavy rainfall triggered other natural disasters like floods, landslides and mudslides. Three people are missing in the heavy rainfalls, the ministry said.
The State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters has issued warnings for torrential rain and flooding across south and northeastern China.
Floods and heavy rains killed 42 including 16 in the collapse of a nine-story building in the city of Guiyang following a landslide last week.
Heavy rainfall is forecast around the Songhuajiang and Liao rivers in northeastern China throughout June.
