Storm Gloria kills 4 in Spain — 33 province on high alert

January 21, 2020: The powerful storm Gloria caused strong winds and heavy snowfall in Spain claiming lives of four people.

Fatalities have been reported in Asturias, Gandia, Avila and Moixent.

The Spanish meteorological agency has placed 33 of its 55 provinces on high alert. Teruel Albacete, Murcia, Barcelona, Tarragon, Girona, Castellon, and Alicante province have been kept on red alert.

Heavy flooding and strong storm severely affected Valencia and the Balearic Islands.

Storm Gloria has has now reached Pyrénées-Orientales, southernmost Mediterranean department of France.
