January 17, 2020: Puerto Rico Meteor streaks over the Island

January 17, 2020: A meteor streaked low across the sky in Puerto Rico on Friday.

The National Weather Service satellite captured the meteor image at around 4:30 p.m. EST time Friday. The event was unusual as meteors are typically not visible during the day because the sky is too bright with sunlight.

Many of the meteor images were posted from the San Juan and Carolina area. But the meteor was seen from almost the entire island.

The event scared many in Puerto Rico as it is experiencing frequent daily aftershocks following a 6.4 magnitude earthquake.
