Floods in Tanzania today kills 50

Floods in Tanzania today have claimed lives of at least 50 people, Shinyanga's regional commissioner, Ally Rufunga, told AFP. Torrential rains, hail and high winds hit Kahama district in Shinyanga region late on Tuesday, injuring at least 82 people.

According to The BBC, more than 60 rescued people are being treated for their injuries in hospital.

The rains have severely damaged gravel roads and mud houses, making rescue operations difficult.

Heavy rains and floods in Tanzania today


Heavy downpour accompanied by hail and strong winds caused severe flooding in north-western Tanzania. An estimated 3,500 people in the region have been affected by the flooding.
