Kenya: 4.9 magnitude earthquake felt in Mombasa today

March 13, 2020: Magnitude 4.9 earthquake in Tanzania has caused tremor in Mombasa, Kenya today at 09:37 pm. According to the United States Geological Survey, the earthquake's epicenter was located 19 km NNW of Maramba, Tanzania. The earthquake occurred at 13 km depth. No damage or injuries have been reported due to the earthquake in Mombasa today.

Recent flooding in southern Tanzania leaves 21 dead

February 4, 2020: Recent flooding in southern Tanzania has claimed lives of 21 people. Floods have been affecting Lindi, Iringa, Ruvuma, Mtwara regions in southern Tanzania since January 27, 2020. The highest fatalities have been reported from southern district of Kilwa (Lindi Region) where at least 13 people have been died. Further, around 15,000 people have been displaced.

Tanzania landslide kills 19 gold miners

A landslide in Tanzania's northwestern district of Kahama has claimed lives of at least 19 gold miners on Thursday night. According to Justus Kamugisha, Shinyanga regional police commander, at least 19 bodies have been recovered so far and rescue operations are underway, Xinhua reported.

Floods in Tanzania today kills 50

Floods in Tanzania today have claimed lives of at least 50 people, Shinyanga's regional commissioner, Ally Rufunga, told AFP. Torrential rains, hail and high winds hit Kahama district in Shinyanga region late on Tuesday, injuring at least 82 people. According to The BBC, more than 60 rescued people are being treated for their injuries in hospital.

Storm in Tanzania hits dhow, 4 killed

At least four people have died after storm hit a dhow on the Indian Ocean in Rufiji District in Tanzania, The Citizen reported. Fatalities include an infant and a teacher at Kiechuru Primary School in Rufiji. Storm hit a ferry named MV Nyaulele owned by Unyaulele Cooperative Society at Dimani area. Landslide in Tanzania claims 13 lives

Update Landslide occurred at a gravel mine in the Moshono area of Arusha Region of northern Tanzania. Huge landslide in Tanzania has claimed lives of thirteen people. Still four people are reported to be missing in landslide in Tanzania. A heavy downpour caused mudslides and flash flooding in Arusha, Tanzania. Tanzania emergency and disaster management team with soldiers from Tanzania's People's Defense Forces are searching the missing people.
