Landslides in Switzerland and Italy kill 4

Landslides triggered by torrential rain have claimed lives of at least four people on either side of the Swiss Italian border on Sunday.

Landslide in southern Ticino region of Switzerland killed two and injured four others. Another landslide on the Italian shores of Lake Maggiore killed  a pensioner and his granddaughter, Euro News reported.

The Ticino river burst its banks near Vigevano in northern Italy.

This natural calamity came a day after floods in the southern French region of Le Gard claimed lives of five people.

The Swiss government has warned of more downpours on Monday and Tuesday on both sides of the border, up to 100 mm in some areas.

According to The Local Europe, a total of 11 people have died as a result of floods in Italy in the last month.
