Tsunami rumor in Philippines kills 1, some 5,000 fled away

Tsunami rumor in Quezon province of Philippines has claimed life of a person.

One elderly woman died after she had a heart attack, GMA's News TV Live reported Wednesday.

Some 5,000 people also fled their homes after receiving the supposed text messages indicating the tsunami was coming from Batangas. The text messages started spreading from 10 p.m. Tuesday.

According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), it is impossible to have a tsunami alert at this time in any part of the country as there was no significant earthquake in the past 24 hours.

There may have been a change in water level in Quezon due to the winds brought about by Typhoon Henry, GMA's News TV Live added.
