Worst flooding in 120 years in Bosnia and Serbia kill 20

Record flooding in the Balkans has claimed lives of at least 20 people in Serbia and Bosnia and forced tens of thousands to flee their homes.

It is believed to be the worst flooding since records began 120 years ago, The Associated Press has reported quoting Goran Mihajlovic from Serbia’s Weather Center.

Flooding in Bosnia and Herzegovina claimed lives of 12 people. In Serbia, more than 15,000 people have been evacuated from the flood-hit regions. At least 8 people died in Serbia.

The Sava river burst its banks in towns to the west of Belgrade, the capital and largest city of Serbia.

European Union countries have sent equipment and emergency crews in flood disaster areas.
