Cuba Earthquake Today: 5.1 Quake Felt in Havana and Key West, Florida

M 5.1 moderate earthquake shakes Cuba today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located 24 km NNW of Corralillo and 174 km E of Havana. It was 6.2 miles deep.

The quake was well felt in capital Havana (La Habana) where two buildings were temporarily evacuated. It was felt as far away as Key West, Florida.

No immediate damage or injuries have been reported from earthquake in Cuba today.

According to the U.S.G.S, Only six documented events ranging from M 3.0-5.6 have occurred over the past 75 years within 200 km of the epicenter.

Oficina Nacional de Estadísticas estimates that Cuba, which is located in an area with several active fault systems produce on average about 2000 seismic events each year.
