Espirito Santo declares emergency after flood claims 20, leaves 40,000 homeless in SE Brazil

Flooding in Brazil has claimed lives of at least 20 people and left around 40,000 people homeless, Xinhua reported.

Six people died in Espirito Santo and 14 in Minas Gerais. A state of emergency has been declared in Espirito Santo in more than half of its states.

More than 40,000 people have been left homeless in Espirito Santo alone due to severe flooding. Storm has damaged more than 6,000 homes.

Several roads have been blocked due to mudslides and bridges have been washed away by flood waters.

The federal government has already dispatched a helicopter and army troops with disaster relief materials and rescue efforts.

Flooding in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil claimed lives of at least three people and displaced more than 2,000 people last week.

Hail storm in Chennai: 3rd time in 5 years

Hail storm hit Ayanavaram, Chennai between 1.30pm and 1.45pm Friday afternoon. Nungambakkam recorded 3.5cm of rain and Meenambakkam 1.1cm, India Meteorological Department said. Q: The tremors of earthquake were felt at intervals of 15 seconds. The first tremor was felt at 8:54:57 and last tremor was felt at 10:45:12. How many times were the tremors felt?
