M 3.2 minor earthquake shakes England, United Kingdom today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located 3 km WNW of Coalville. It was 6.2 miles deep.
The epicenter was close to 2008 Lincolnshire earthquake. The very earthquake was caused by the sudden rupture and motion along a strike-slip fault, 18.6 kilometres beneath Lincolnshire (source wikipedia).
Looking epicenter and depth, tremor will have felt by the people of Broxtowe, Charnwood, Coalville, Derby, Leicester, Loughborough and Nottingham.
On average several hundred earthquakes are detected by the British Geological Survey each year in the British Isles but almost all are far too faint to be felt by human.
The 1984 Llyn Peninsula earthquake (M 5.4) is the largest known onshore earthquake to occur in the UK.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
