Magnitude 5.4 moderate earthquake in Southern Peru with epicenter located 11 km N of Lluta. The earthquake occurred at 06:37 UTC (local time 01:37 AM).

11 km (6 miles) N of Lluta, Peru
74 km (45 miles) NW of Arequipa, Peru
108 km (67 miles) NE of Camana, Peru
123 km (76 miles) N of Mollendo, Peru

Update
Following USGS felt report, light to weak shaking was experienced by the people of Jauja, Concepcion, Huancayo, La Oroya and Lima (Lima Provincias).

M 4.9 moderate earthquake shakes Central Peru today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. It was 53.1 miles deep.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located 54 km W Huancayo and 149 km E Lima.

Peru lies above the convergent boundary where the Nazca Plate is subducting beneath the South American Plate at a rate of 61 mm per year. The 1746 Lima-Callao earthquake killed 5,941 people.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
