  • Flooding in Vijayawada, India
    -Heavy rainfall caused flooding in Vijayawada and Eluru in Andhra Pradesh, India.
    -Several train and bus services were suspended in Vijayawada.
    -Railway track between Kondapalli-Madhira sections in Vijayawada railway division damaged.
    -National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) from Visakhapatnam and Mangalagiri will reach the disaster area by evening.
    -Meanwhile two people were killed in flash flood in Khammam district of Andhra Pradesh.
    -Vijayawada faced worst flood in 100 years in 2009. Floods in 2009 was the worst natural disaster to hit India since 1972.   • M 5.8 strong but harmless sea quake in Central Mid-Atlantic Ridge (@ 9 km depth) with epicenter located 1220 km N of Fernando de Noronha (Distrito Estadual), Brazil.

  • M 5.5 moderate earthquake in Philippine Islands Region (@ 48 km depth) with epicenter located 111 km ENE of San Isidro. Weak shaking of MMI III will have felt by the peopole of Santa Monica, Pilar, San Benito, Union, Libas, Sulangan, Surigao, Panalanoy, Bayugan, Libertad and Mariano.

Ongoing Major River Floods (Based on Satellite observation): Afghanistan (Amu Darya), Argentina, Australia (Murray and Darling), Brazil (Tocantins and Ana Doce Ponte Nova), Chad (N Djamena), China (Mekong, Xi Jiang and Huang He), Colombia (Japura), Democratic Republic of the Congo (Lualaba), Ethiopia, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Iraq (Tigris), Japan, Malaysia, Nigeria (Niger and Benue), Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, Philippines, Senegal, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan (White Nile and Blue Nile), Tajikistan, United States (Mississippi) and Venezuela (Orinoco).


Recent Volcanic Activity
Erupting Volcanoes: Propocatepetl, Fuego, Reventador, Villarrica, Stromboli, Nyiragongo, Ol Doniyo Lengai, Erta Ale, Marapi, Semeru, Paluweh, Gamalama, Lokon-Empung, Sakurajima, Ulawun, Yasur, Ambrym, Kizimen, Shiveluch and Kilauea volcano.
  • Hawaii/Kilauea recent volcanic activity
    -The current activity inside the Kilauea mountain is similar to what was observed nearly two years ago. Researchers predict new eruption.
    -Around 60 earthquakes (unusual) occurred beneath Kilauea including a magnitude-3.7 earthquake  mostly within the upper east rift zone.
    -There is also wildfire burning near Kilauea volcano.

Recent Tropical Cyclones
  • Tropical Storm Rosa
    -As of 09:00 UTC, TS Rosa was located 1545 km SW of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
    -Rosa is moving toward the west near 5 mph.
    -The cyclone is forecast to progressively weaken. No threat to land.


Natural Disaster News
  • Red Flag warning in San Diego, USA
    -A Red Flag warning is issued for San Diego County mountain areas. Strong, gusty winds and very low humidity is forecast tomorrow (Sunday).
    -Warning is issued for mountain areas including the Palomar and Descanso ranger districts of the Cleveland National Forest. Critical fire weather conditions are predicted.

  • The hurricane Sandy death toll in the United States has risen to 106. The States of New York and New Jersey were among the worst-hit. More than 20 million tweets about the hurricane storm sandy was posted on twitter between Saturday and Thursday.
