Recent Natural Disasters
  • Flooding in Kyushu Island, Japan

    -About 240,000 people in the north of Kyushu ordered to evacuate after the rivers burst their banks.
    -More than 75 centimeters of rainfall recorded in 72 hours in the inland city of Aso.
    -Official data shows death toll at 20 with 7 still missing.
    -The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) warned of more landslides and floods in Kumamoto and Oita prefectures.
    -Below is the new Video footage of the flood devastated Kyushu Island.

  • Flooding in Pokhara, Nepal
    -At least 30 families in Ramghat and Gaighat of Pokhara city displaced by flooding in Seti river.
    -More than 40 houses reported to be flooded.
    -Flood affected people are taking shelter in the buildings of the local social welfare organizations.
    -Several people were killed after major avalanche in Annapurna range triggered a massive flood in Seti River this May.
    -Landslide also destroyed at least four houses in Doba VDC in Myagdi district.
    -Pokhara is the second largest city of Nepal and the most popular tourist spot in the country.

  • M 4.9 moderate earthquake in Luzon, Philippines (@ 35 km depth) with epicenter located 33 km W of San Nicolas. Weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of San Narciso, Poblacion, Olongapo and San Antonio.

  • M 5.6 strong earthquake in Myanmar-India Border Region (@ 7 km depth) with epicenter located 24 km S of Phek (India). It will have well felt by the people of Kohima, Zunheboto, Wokha, Imphal (Manipur), Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh) and as far as Dhaka, Bangladesh.

    Update
    Following USGS PAGER MAP, light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Zunheboto, Wokha, Imphal and Dimapur. People of Jorhat, Sibsagar, Silchar, Itanagar and Aizawl will have felt weak shaking of MMI II-III.

  • M 4.6 moderate earthquake in Bulgaria (@ 6 km depth) with epicenter located just 7 km NNE of Pernik. Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Radomir, Sofia, Kostinbrod, Kjustendil and Dupnica.

  • M 4.6 moderate shallow earthquake in Western Iran (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located just 19 km NNW of Harsin. Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Sah'neh , Sonqor, Kahriz, Kermanshah and Kangavar. Weak shaking will have felt as far as capital city Baghdad.

  • Kamchatka/Sheveluch recent volcanic activity
    -Current Aviation Color Code: ORANGE
    -Moderate seismicity of the volcano was registered. A thermal anomaly over the volcano was observed by the satellite.

Flooding List
  • Flooding in Rawalpindi, Pakistan
    -Flood warning issued for catchment area of Leh Nullah.
    -Divers of military and rescue machinery in Rawalpindi put on Red Alert.
  • Flooding in Nelson Mandela Bay, South Africa
    -Several people living in the low-lying areas of Nelson Mandela Bay evacuated after heavy rainfall and possible flooding.
    -Several roads across Cape Town closed due to severe weather.
    -Snowfall also reported along the Drakensburg mountains.
  • Flooding in Yichang, China
    -Continuous floods have left over 600 ships stranded on sections of the Yangtze River in Yichang city of Hubei Province.

Tropical Cyclone List
  • Hurricane Fabio
    -As of 03:00 UTC, Hurricane Fabio was located 845 km SSW of the southern tip of Baja California.
    -Fabio is a category one hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson hurricane wind scale.
    -Hurricane Fabio is strengthening in the Pacific but poses no threats to land.
  • Tropical Storm Emilia
    -As of 03:00 UTC, TS Emilia was located 2125 km WSW of the southern tip of Baja California.
    -Emilia is forecast to become a remnant low on Sunday.

  • Solar flare to hit Earth today
    -Massive solar flare is expected to reach the Earth by 5:00 GMT today (Saturday).
    -According to NASA and the Space Weather Prediction Center (SPWC), it is an X1.4-class solar flare.
    -This solar storm is expected to cause a strong radio blackout for some high-frequency communications systems.
    -X-class solar flares are the strongest type of storms that occur on the sun. X-class solar flares can endanger spacecraft and astronauts in orbit, interfere with satellite signals, as well as damage power lines and other infrastructure on the ground.
