The Iowa annual tornado drill will take place on Thursday, March 24, 2016 this year. The Iowa Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEMD), the National Weather Service (NWS) and local emergency managers have again joined together to promote severe weather awareness and family preparedness.

The Virginia Department of Emergency Management and the National Weather Service (NWS) are holding a statewide tornado drill today March 22, 2016. The Virginia statewide tornado drill will begin at 9:45 a.m. with a test tornado warning sent by the NWS to National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Weather Radios.

A statewide tornado drill is scheduled today in Indiana. The Indiana Department of Homeland Security has asked Hoosiers to plan ahead for tornado season and participate in the Statewide Tornado Drill on Tuesday, March 22, 2016. The tornado drills will be observed both in the morning and evening. The drills will be at 10:15 a.m. and 7:35 p.m. Tuesday.

A tornado touched down near the western Illinois town of Good Hope in McDonough County, the National Weather Service said. Storm damage has also been reported in and around Good Hope, Fox2now reported quoting dispatcher in the McDonough County sheriff’s office. The extent of damage it being collected.

Tornado damage at mobile home park in Tolar, Texas, United States (Paul Moseley/ Star Telegram) At least three tornadoes have been confirmed in Cool, Tolar and Stephenville area of Texas injuring four people and damaging several buildings. The National Weather Service confirmed an EF-1 tornado in Tolar Tuesday night. Four people were injured as tornado hit Tolar in Hood County.

Storm damage in Waverly, Va. (Associated Press via The Wall Street Journal) Severe storm lashed the eastern United States claiming lives of atleast eight people with worst-hit in Waverly, Virginia. Strong winds, hail and heavy rain pounded the Carolinas and Virginia on Thursday. Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe has declared a state of emergency.

Eight people have died by tornado in Garland, Texas, raising the death toll to 26 in a week of storms in several US states. Five people in cars were probably blown off a motorway in Garland, near Dallas. Another three bodies were found in nearby towns, BBC reported. Two people were found dead at a petrol station in Copeville, and a third was killed in Blue Ridge.

Tornado spotted near Clarksdale, Mississippi (Twitter user @FullMetalSquid) Severe storm system in parts of the South and Midwest United States claimed lives of at least six people on Wednesday, bringing several tornadoes in Indiana, Illinois, Mississippi and Tennessee. Three people died in Mississippi; two in Benton County and One in Marshall County. Tornado shelters have been established in Harmony Baptist Church in Walnut (Tippah Co.) and Clarksdale Auditorium in Clarksdale (Coahoma Co.). The State Emergency Operations Center has been partially activated with key agencies to assist with the response.

Tornado captured in Dubbo (Mel Sharkey/Stuff) A tornado in New South Wales town of Dubbo has damaged at least seven houses, scattered debris and uprooted trees. Roads were flooded across Sydney and the Illawarra, with the emergency services rescuing people stranded in cars after driving into floodwaters, Sydney Morning Herald reported.

Governor Bruce Rauner has activated the State Emergency Operations Center to ensure to act quickly if any local responders need our assistance. "Illinois State Police is already at the scene and we have staff from the Illinois Emergency Management Agency enroute to the area to support local response efforts,” he said in a news release.
