Iowa statewide tornado drill 2016 to held tomorrow: March 24, 2016

The Iowa annual tornado drill will take place on Thursday, March 24, 2016 this year. The Iowa Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEMD), the National Weather Service (NWS) and local emergency managers have again joined together to promote severe weather awareness and family preparedness.

Virginia statewide tornado drill 2016 being held today

The Virginia Department of Emergency Management and the National Weather Service (NWS) are holding a statewide tornado drill today March 22, 2016. The Virginia statewide tornado drill will begin at 9:45 a.m. with a test tornado warning sent by the NWS to National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Weather Radios. 

Indiana statewide tornado drill 2016 starts today: March 22, 2016

A statewide tornado drill is scheduled today in Indiana. The Indiana Department of Homeland Security has asked Hoosiers to plan ahead for tornado season and participate in the Statewide Tornado Drill on Tuesday, March 22, 2016. The tornado drills will be observed both in the morning and evening. The drills will be at 10:15 a.m. and 7:35 p.m. Tuesday.

Tornado in Good Hope, Illinois causes damage

A tornado touched down near the western Illinois town of Good Hope in McDonough County, the National Weather Service said. Storm damage has also been reported in and around Good Hope, Fox2now reported quoting dispatcher in the McDonough County sheriff’s office. The extent of damage it being collected.

Three tornadoes ripped Cool, Tolar and Stephenville; 4 injured

The National Weather Service confirmed an EF-1 tornado in Tolar Tuesday night. Four people were injured as tornado hit Tolar in Hood County.

8 dead after tornadoes, powerful storms hit US East Coast — Worst in Waverly, Virginia

Storm damage in Waverly, Va. (Associated Press via The Wall Street Journal) Severe storm lashed the eastern United States claiming lives of atleast eight people with worst-hit in Waverly, Virginia. Strong winds, hail and heavy rain pounded the Carolinas and Virginia on Thursday. Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe has declared a state of emergency.

Garland, Texas tornado kills 8; Death toll climbs 26 in recent US storm

Eight people have died by tornado in Garland, Texas, raising the death toll to 26 in a week of storms in several US states. Five people in cars were probably blown off a motorway in Garland, near Dallas. Another three bodies were found in nearby towns, BBC reported. Two people were found dead at a petrol station in Copeville, and a third was killed in Blue Ridge.

6 killed as Tornado hits Mississippi today ahead of Christmas

Tornado spotted near Clarksdale, Mississippi (Twitter user @FullMetalSquid) Severe storm system in parts of the South and Midwest United States claimed lives of at least six  people on Wednesday, bringing several tornadoes in Indiana, Illinois, Mississippi and Tennessee.  Three people died in Mississippi; two in Benton County and One in Marshall County. Tornado shelters have been established in Harmony Baptist Church in Walnut (Tippah Co.) and Clarksdale Auditorium in Clarksdale (Coahoma Co.). The State Emergency Operations Center has been partially activated with key agencies to assist with the response.

Tordano in Kurnell, Sydney damages dozens of houses

There could be up to 25 homes with significant damage so far in Kurnell area, ABC has quoted Phil Campbell from the SES as saying.

Tornado in Dubbo, Australia damages house, uproots trees

Roads were flooded across Sydney and the Illawarra, with the emergency services rescuing people stranded in cars after driving into floodwaters, Sydney Morning Herald reported.

Emergency Operations Center activated as tornado damage reported in Western Illinois

Governor Bruce Rauner has activated the State Emergency Operations Center to ensure to act quickly if any local responders need our assistance. "Illinois State Police is already at the scene and we have staff from the Illinois Emergency Management Agency enroute to the area to support local response efforts,” he said in a news release.

A tornado has claimed life of a person and injured atleast thirty people in Venice, Italy Wednesday night. Tornado hit Dolo, between Venice and Padua on the Riviera della Brenta, The Local reported quoting Italian news site Corriere .

Coal City, IL tornado causes heavy damage

The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado in Coal City, Illinois at 9:58 p.m Monday. The tornado hit Coal City, Illinois, damaging homes, bringing down power lines and leaving roadways flooded. Storm damage closed Route 113 near Carbon Hill Rd. in Coal City, WGN-TV reported.

Tornado in Sabah, Malaysia damages buildings

Tornado in Kinabatangan district of Sabah, Malaysia has flattened two buildings and blew off the roofs of three other structures at an oil palm plantation. Strong winds appearing like “small tornadoes” hit Sabah at 2.20 pm, The Star Online quoted Sahak Rahmat, Kinabatangan police chief as saying.

Canada's first tornado of the year hits southern Ontario

Canada's first tornado of the year has been reported in southern Ontario on Saturday, May 30 around 2:30 p.m. local time. According to The Weather Network , Environment Canada has confirmed that an EF-1 touched down in southern Ontario just northeast of the city of London, Ontario.

Freak tornado rips through Ciudad Acuna, Mexico killing 13

At least 13 people have died after a freak tornado ripped through the northern Mexican city of Ciudad Acuna on Monday morning. Fatalities include 10 adults and three children, Coahuila Governor Ruben Moreira said on a visit to the disaster area.
