Tordano in Kurnell, Sydney damages dozens of houses

A destructive winds measuring up to 213 km/hr hit Sydney at about 10:30am (AEDT) bringing down trees and power lines and causing flash flooding, the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) said.

There could be up to 25 homes with significant damage so far in Kurnell area, ABC has quoted Phil Campbell from the SES as saying.

 Around 6,000 homes have been reportedly without power south of the city.

The emergency services received 400 calls while 25 homes on the Kurnell peninsula suffering “extremely significant damage”, news.com.au reported.

An Evacuation Centre has been opened for residents affected by the storms at Cronulla Sutherland Leagues Club, 461 Captain Cook Drive, Woolooware.
