The northeasterly monsoon is expected to bring rainstorm and heavy seas in Gulf of Thailand from Feb 5-9, 2016 forcing the disaster prevention and mitigation teams to be on alert in nine southern provinces. The nine provinces are Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat, The Bangkok Post has written quoting Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department chief Chatchai Promlert .

"A large oak tree fell during Sunday’s storm crushed a car in Pacific Beach, killing a woman inside across Ingraham Street near Fortuna Avenue about 3:15 p.m.," The San Diego Union-Tribune reported quoting San Diego-Fire Rescue Capt. A tropical depression in the East Pacific has strengthened into Tropical Storm Ignacio, which is forecast to strengthen into a hurricane later this week as it moves in a west to eventually west-northwest direction.  According to the National Hurricane Center, Tropical Storm Ignacio was located 2,460km ESE of Hilo, Hawaii  at 2:00 pm PDT (21:00 UTC).

Tropical Storm Erika which formed late Monday night in the central Atlantic is moving towards the west near 20 mph (31 km/h).  At 11:00 am AST (15:00 UTC), Tropical Storm Erika was located 1,170 km E of the Leeward Islands . Erika is expected to remain a tropical storm and gather strength as it moves quickly to the west, National Hurricane Center (NHC) mentioned.

Evacuation orders and recommendations issued to some 555,000 people, The Japan Times reported. A 71-year-old  man was found dead on Thursday in Awaji island, Hyogo Prefecture. Another 85-year-old man was also found dead Thursday night in Shiso, in Hyogo Prefecture. Tropical storm Nangka made landfall near Cape Muroto on Shikoku island late Thursday with packing gusts up to 126 kilometers per hour. According to The Weather Channel , Nangka was the equivalent of a Category 1 tropical cyclone on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale at landfall.

Severe storm in Hungary has claimed life of a person and injured 29 others, the disaster management authority said. A man was found dead in the flooded basement, XPATLOOP has quoted Daniel Mukics, a spokesman for the disaster management authority as saying.

More than 30 houses have been damaged by the thunderstorm in Kampung Kubang Golok, Malaysian National News Agency Bernama reported. Heavy storm blew away roofs of the houses Saturday evening, forcing the occupants to spent the night at relatives or neighbours' houses.

Tropical Depression Bill, the second named storm of the 2015 Atlantic hurricane season, has claimed lives of atleast three people in central United States. Heavy flooding in Oklahoma swept away a 2-year-old toddler. One person died in Missouri and a woman died in central Texas when she lost control of her car while driving through the storm, Reuters reported.

Heavy storm in Hanoi,  the capital of Vietnam, has claimed lives of at least two people and injured four others. Two people died after being crushed by falling trees while driving their motorbikes on Minh Khai and Nguyen Du streets in Hai Ba Trung District, Thanh Nien News reported.

Heavy storm has claimed lives of at least four people and affected Dinajpur Sadar, Chirirbandar, Phulbarhi and Nababganj Upazilas. Storm has damaged electric poles and caused power outage in the district, bdnews24.com reported.

Heavy storm has brought hail and flash flooding in Cache Creek, British Columbia early Saturday evening. Flash flooding from the Bonaparte River swept away one or two mobile homes and a vehicle, CBC/Radio-Canada reported.

The recent windstorm has damaged around 450 houses in the Far-Western region of Nepal. According to the information provided by the Far-Western Regional Police Office, the hardest hit is Kailali where 286 houses have seen loss, eKantipur has mentioned.

A severe weather warning has been issued for Tasmania as the parts of northern and central areas are forecast winds of up to 130km/h, heavy rain and snow. According to Special Broadcasting Service (SBS),  meteorology company UBIMET has issued its highest category of warning on Tuesday.
