Flooding caused by stormy weather has claimed life of an elderly man in Britain.

A 90-year-old man died near Finchley Central station in North London as storm Desmond triggered flooding in the region.

According to the Daily Mail, numbers of houses have been flooded as rivers burst their banks making roads impassable across the North of England, Scotland and Wales.

The Met Office has issued its highest red rain warning for northwest England and southwest Scotland, as Storm Desmond brings strong winds and heavy, persistent rain to those regions.

Dozens of highways and main roads have been closed Saturday due to landslides or flooding.
