  • M 4.4 light shallow aftershocks in Eastern Kazakhstan (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located 73 km SE of Kegen. Yesterday's magnitude 6.0 earthquake in Kazakhstan shook Almaty.

  • M 4.1 light deep earthquake in Southern Peru (@ 100 km depth) with epicenter located 42 km SE of Orcopampa. Weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of Arequipa, Camana and Mollendo.

  • M 4.4 light earthquake in Dodecanese Islands, Greece (@ 27 km depth) with epicenter located 15 km S of Karpathos. People of Agios Nikolaos, Ierapetra and Trianta will have felt just a weak shaking of MMI III.

Recent Tropical Cyclones
  • Tropical Cyclone Felleng
    -As of 09:00 UTC, TC Felleng was located 460 nm north of La Reunion.
    -Felleng is predicted to continue to intensify as it nears Madagascar. Felleng will travel between eastern Madagascar and La Reunion Island by Feb. 1.

  • Hailstorms have displaced hundreds of families in Mzimba and Chitipa district of Malawi, Africa.
  • Natural disaster areas has been declared in ten local government areas hit by flooding in northern NSW. Now natural disaster assistance would be available to flood affected residents. Flooding in Queensland, Australia killed four people and destroyed 40 houses in Bundaberg. At least five tornadoes hit Queensland coastal towns some days ago.
  • A wildfire arsonist was sentenced to death in California. The man was convicted of setting a massive wildfire that killed five people and damaged 1,000 plus homes in San Bernardino.
