Tropical Depression Bill, the second named storm of the 2015 Atlantic hurricane season, has claimed lives of atleast three people in central United States.
Heavy flooding in Oklahoma swept away a 2-year-old toddler. One person died in Missouri and a woman died in central Texas when she lost control of her car while driving through the storm, Reuters reported.
At 04:00 pm CDT, Tropical Depression Bill was located 30 km NW of Fort Smith, Arkansas. National Hurricane Center has issued flash flood warnings for a eastern Oklahoma into northwestern Arkansas and southern Missouri. Similarly, the flood watches and warnings and flash flood watches are in effect for the eastern half of Texas and Oklahoma and into the middle Mississippi River valley.
Bill is expected to bring 2 to 5 inches of rainfall across northern Arkansas into Southern Missouri.
Earlier, the National Weather Service had issued flash flood warnings for parts of east Texas, eastern Oklahoma and southwest Kansas. A flash flood emergency was issued by the National Weather Service for the Alice, Texas, area Wednesday evening. Similarly, a flash flood emergency was issued for Jasper County, Texas, late Wednesday evening.
