Q: What was the Haiti earthquake on the Mercalli scale? A:  The Modified Mercalli Scale (MMI) reading of 2010 Haiti earthquake was an intensity of X. According to the United States Geological Survey, intensity IX on the Modified Mercalli scale (MM) was recorded in Port-au-Prince. The earthquake which occurred on 12 January 2010 was of magnitude 7.0 Mw with epicenter located 25 kilometres west of Port-au-Prince, the capital city of Haiti.

Haiti Earthquake 2021: At least 724 killed and 2,800 injured

August 15, 2021: A magnitude 7.2 earthquake in Haiti has claimed lives of at least 724 people and injured 2,800 people. The earthquake occurred at the  Tiburon Peninsula in the Caribbean nation of Haiti on the island of Hispaniola on August 14, 2021. Haiti earthquake has been categorized as the deadliest earthquake of 2021 which occurred near Petit-Trou-de-Nippes, approximately 150 kilometres west of the capital, Port-au-Prince. According to the United States Geological Survey(USGS), the earthquake occurred as a result of oblique-reverse faulting on the Enriquillo–Plantain Garden fault zone. The earthquake was also strongly felt in Jamaica. According to the Haitian Civil Protection Agency, the Haiti earthquake destroyed at least 860 homes and 700 others have been damaged. In addition, minor floods and landslides have been reported in affected areas in Haiti. The earthquake struck as Tropical Storm Grace is expected to reach Haiti between 16 and 17 August. Hurricane Maria kills 129 people, worst natural disaster in Dominica

November 10, 2017: At least 129 people are confirmed dead due to Hurricane Maria; 55 in Puerto Rico, 57 in Dominica, 5 in the Dominican Republic, 4 in the contiguous United States, 3 in Haiti, 2 in Guadeloupe, and 3 in the United States Virgin Islands. Hurricane Maria is regarded as the worst natural disaster on record in Dominica. Maria caused catastrophic damage and a major humanitarian crisis in Puerto Rico.

Flooding in northern Haiti kills 10

November 7, 2016: At least 10 people died in three northern provinces of Haiti after heavy rainfall triggered flooding in the regions. According to the Civil Protection official Jean Henry-Petit, nearly a foot (300 millimeters) of rain was recorded around the northern city of Cap-Haitien over the previous 48 hours.

"The eye of extremely dangerous hurricane Matthew is moving away from The Bahamas and towards the wast coast of Florida," the national hurricane center mentioned in a public advisory issued at 11:00 pm EDT October 6, 2016.

Recent floods in Haiti kill 4, affect thousands families

Recent floods in Haiti caused by the torrential rainfall have claimed lives of at least four people including three children. Torrential rains have affected 112 families in Port-au-Prince, 2,500 in Cite Soleil and 1,800 in Cabaret, Haiti Libr e reported quoting a provisional assessment of the Directorate of Civil Protection.

Port-au-Price flood kills 6 in recent Haiti natural disaster

Flooding triggered by heavy rainfall in Haitian capital Port-au-Price has claimed lives of at least six people and damaged more than 8,000 homes. Recent floods in Port-au-Price have displaced 45 families. More than 8,379 homes are flooded and 46 homes are totally destroyed, Radio Metropole Haiti mentioned quoting the Directorate of Civil Protection and the Interior Ministry.
