Flooding in northern Haiti kills 10

November 7, 2016: At least 10 people died in three northern provinces of Haiti after heavy rainfall triggered flooding in the regions.

According to the Civil Protection official Jean Henry-Petit, nearly a foot (300 millimeters) of rain was recorded around the northern city of Cap-Haitien over the previous 48 hours.

Recent floods killed four men, three women and three children from the same family, including a young girl.

The Emergency Operations Centres of Departmental (SEW) North and Northeast have been activated.

Flood disaster has also been reported in the southwestern department of Grand ‘Anse, the area which is still recovering from the hurricane Matthew, which claimed lives of 546 people.
