Turkey avalanche kills 1, traps 4: Disaster Management Agency

An avalanche in Turkey’s northeastern Trabzon region has claimed life of a worker and trapped four others, the disaster management agency (AFAD) said. "The five workers were repairing a broken generator in a construction site for a tunnel when the avalanche struck", Reuters has written quoting the disaster management agency's spokesman Dogan Eskinat.

Blizzards and avalanches in Western Nepal kill 32, more than 118 rescued

Update 23:10 UTC, 2014/10/16 The death toll due to blizzards and avalanches in Myagdi, Manang and Mustang has climbed to 32, The Himalayan Times reported. More than 118 persons who had been trapped have been rescued from various areas. Prime Minister, Sushil Koirala has directed the National Emergency Rescue Center to immediately move into action to rescue the victims and provide them with relief assistance in the Cabinet meeting.

3 killed in avalanche on Kanchenjunga, the world's third tallest peak

Mount Kanchenjunga avalanche in Nepal has claimed lives of three people including one from India. According to the Nepalese officials, the three were swept away by an avalanche and were believed to be dead. They scaled Kanchenjunga on Sunday and were attempting to climb Yalung Kang, a sister peak. The deceased have been identified as Temba Sherpa and Dawa Wangju Sherpa of Taamku VDC-5, Taplejung, Nepal and Chanda Gayen of West Bengal, India. Gayen is known as the first civilian woman from West Bengal to climb Mount Everest. The single deadliest avalanche ever on the world's highest peak, Mount Everest had claimed lives of at least 15 people a few weeks ago. At least five mountaineers were killed in an avalanche while returning from the peak of Mt Kanchenjunga a year ago. Kanchenjunga is the third highest mountain in the world located in Nepal. Deadliest Mount Everest avalanche 2014 kills 15

The single deadliest avalanche ever on the world's highest peak has claimed lives of at least 15 people, Nepal based The Kathmandu Post reported. An avalanche occurred Friday morning in an area known as "popcorn field" near Everest Base Camp at an elevation of approximately 5,800 m. Avalanche site lies within the Khumbu Ice fall. According to The Republica, a central natural disaster recovery committee has decided to provide Rs 40,000 to the families of the deceased. Reports have shown that over 200 people have died trying to climb Mount Everest till now. Mount Everest avalanche 2014 is the single deadliest avalanche in the mountain's history. Avalanches in Kashmir kill 16, including 3 Nepalese

Avalanches and flash floods in Jammu and Kashmir in last three days have claimed lives of at least 16 people and injured 30 others. Heavy snowfall claimed lives of three Nepalese workers when their stone quarrying site caved in near Kargil, The Hindu reported. Fatalities have been reported on both sides of the de-facto border between India and Pakistan. Complete power breakdown has been reported in Srinagar and entire Kashmir valley as heavy snowfall damaged Jammu-Srinagar 220 kv and 440 kv transmission lines. Kootenay Pass Avalanche kills 1

An avalanche in Kootenay Pass area of Canada has claimed life of a person and seriously injured a woman, CBC News reported. Avalanche occurred at Twin Lakes near Stagleap Provincial Park. Kootenay Pass avalanche conditions were observed by a team of about 26 search and rescue members. The Canadian Avalanche Centre had issued a special avalanche warning for BC. East Vail avalanche report: 1 killed, 3 injured

An avalanche in the backcountry near Vail has claimed life of a person, Colorado Avalanche Information Center confirmed. Fatality is said to be a grandson of Peter Seibert Sr., a co-founder of the Vail ski resort. Others three trapped in the snow have been rescued without major injuries. The avalanche occurred at around 11:30 am in East Vail Chutes, an area between Vail Mountain and Vail Pass. According to The Denver Post, the East Vail avalanches have deadly history. Avalanche in Bulgaria's Rila Mountain has claimed life of a man, FOCUS News Agency reported. Avalanche in Bulgaria's Rila Mountain hit the 54-year-old military pilot belonging from the Bulgarian capital city Sofia last night. Austrian Alps avalanche kills a British teen

An avalanche in the Austrian Alps has claimed life of a British teenager and seriously injured his father. Austrian Alps avalanche hit the16-year-old boy, who was skiing with his father, twin brother and ski guide. The family of three were from Winchester, Austrian Times reported. Despite of wearing avalanche air bags, bodies were found buried. The avalanche occurred at the Austrian resort of Lech am Arlberg at 13.24 on Tuesday afternoon. Mt Masago, Japan avalanche kills 7

Mount Everest avalanche kills 4, evacuates 86

Avalanche on Mount Everest has claimed lives of at least four people, Xinhua reported. Avalanche hit four Australian tourists, accompanied by six Tibetans. Fatalities include three local porters and a 60-year-old Australian man. A tour group was organized by the Tibet Longda International Travel Agency. On Monday, rescuers evacuated 86 tourists stranded by heavy snow from a base camp on Mount Everest. Everest base camp avalanche in May 2013 killed a climber. 1996 Mount Everest avalanche claimed lives of eight people. Reports have shown that over 200 people have died trying to climb Mount Everest till now. Mount Everest is the Earth's highest mountain located in Nepal at 8,848 metres above sea level. Mont Blanc Avalanche News: 4 climbers killed

Two separate avalanche on Mont Blanc have claimed lives of four climbers and left one missing. According to The Local, an avalanche on Mont Blanc du Tacul claimed lives of two Italian climbers and injured another one. The injured Italian climber is having treatment at a hospital in nearby Annecy, 25 miles south of Geneva, Switzerland Another avalanche in French Alps claimed lives of two French alpinists. Firefighters and mountain rescue guides are involved in rescue operations. Mont Blanc avalanche in 2012 claimed live of eleven climbers, including three Britons.
